Lollipops. Once upon a time a traditional treat for small children who consented peacefully to getting an injection. Boxes full of them in doctors offices and county health departments.
I am glad that everyone so far seems to get the tie-in between the two boys seeing the bullies with lollipops and knowing they have been vaccinated. :o)
When I was a child, the only vaccination available was for smallpox, which I did get as a baby. As a child, I had measles, chicken pox, and whooping cough, but never had German measles.
The lollies my kids’ doctors gave out had xylitol instead of sugar. I never cared for the flavors, but the kids loved them. I happy enough with xylitol in my Mentos chewing gum.
I was one of the lucky ones who got exposed to chicken pox, but never got it (even after nursing one of my own children through it.) But you can be sure I’ve got my shingles shots!
When I laid my knee open on my scooter, I had to get a bunch of tetanus shots. I got to keep all the tiny vials when I didn’t cry. I also got to keep the scar for the last 70 years.
One summer, probably mid sixties, I broke my foot. When my dad and uncle took me to the Dr. and they set the foot, they gave the lollipop to my COUSIN!!!!
