I’m sorry. It’s not nice to laugh at Bok, but I’m still chuckling here. He can NOT be that blind… but he sure can toe the Faux Party line…
FWIW, I’m pretty sure that the explanation is that young woman’s very clear video. The trial would never have happened if the details were “he said she said”, much less had this outcome.
Just another LIE by another Trump Disciple cartoonist.
.
Chip believes in widespread undetectable voter fraud despite NO evidence ever presented in a court of law, but believes the ONLY reason Chauvin was convicted was because of the ACTUAL evidence presented in a court of law.
Evidence that Chip himself has seen, but of course he has not commented on that evidence.
As everyone else has so succinctly said, Bok is once again, pushing pablum. Nothing ANY politician says outside of the trial has any relevance here. None. Unless that politician’s words are on trial or unless those words contributed to the crime, or unless that politician spoke in the courtroom, they are of no significance to the outcome of the trial.
What Bok is really saying here, though, is that pointing out the injustice of a system invalidates your working toward a more just system (and celebrating when a moment approaching justice is actually achieved).
I’m sure Chauvin trial jurors were quaking in their boots after Ms. Waters spoke … /s. This strip may be the new benchmark for alt-right lying and stupidity, surpassing the works of Stiglich (retired) and Payne.
Mr BOK: 1. Had there been no video of this egregious murder the police would have dismissed it the way they always do. 2. How do you explain all the other hundreds of police on citizen murders where the police are summarily exhonorated? Bet you can’t!
The most obvious reason Maxine needed to comment was to screw with the appeal. It was already extremely likely Chauvin would be convicted. But there is no racism and anarchy in justice. So Maxine sticks her stupidity in the mix to make sure the Chauvin’s appeal leads to an acquittal. Then we can start all the racism and rioting all over again. You want to protest justice??? Find out why the Boston Marathon Bomber still hasn’t been executed and probably never will be executed.
@Say What Now.? – They did indeed! But Maxine Waters is a loud mouth politician who has milked her position and her constituents for too many years. She is a disgrace toher profession and the people she represents. She just flaps her mouth without anythought or any regard to truth!!!!!
Most of Bok’s stuff causes me to roll my eyes because he is so clueless… today’s level of ignorance actually annoyed me. How can someone get through life being so clueless?
The system is racist, but given a video that showed exactly what happened, was something the jury couldn’t turn a blind eye to. It also helped having the Police Chief, Chauvin’s supervisor, and so many medical professions testify against Chauvin.
The Jury did not find him guilty to avoid riots, they found Derek Chauvin guilty, because he was guilty. They certainly wouldn’t have found him guilty of all three counts if all they were doing was trying to stop a protest.
Get over yourselves. Justice was served and hopefully, when appropriate it will continue to be served.
As for any notion that Chauvin’s conviction signals the “end of racism”, what about the outcry to the effect that he was railroaded, the victim of a kangaroo trial, etc., etc.
Hmmm “Is the system racist?” Are you talking about the police system, justice system, or both? Know the old saying, even a broken clock is right twice a day. So yes even in a broken, prejudicial, biased system we can find a rare moment of justice for the victim. Tamir Rice, Trayvon Martin, and others never got justice.
The problem is that there were threats made against the jurors and they knew. Given the choice between perjury or death to self and family most folk will choose perjury. On appeal the defense can make the reasonable argument that the jury opinion was influenced by the protestors and some government comments as well as the argument that the jurors will not publicly admit to that under fear of lynching. The judge admitted that he erred in an open trial with the ability of bad actors to to have access to the jurors identity. My prediction is that after appeals the decision will be thrown out and that the prosecution will get stuck due to inability to agree on a fair and impartial slate of jurors. Get the circus out of the courtroom and let justice prevail. The man was guilty and will be free because of a populist jury system at the local level.

Bok, bok, bok! Do you think the jury wasn’t listening to the evidence? You and Tucker Klansman are acting like racist.
Daeder about 3 years ago
Okay, Chip, let me explain this as well as I can:
In a society that isn’t racist, this verdict would be no big deal.
BUT…since the verdict was a huge deal that everyone awaited with bated breath, what does that tell you?

It would be difficult to illustrate the problem of systemic racism better than Bok did in this cartoon with the reporter’s question.
