Before I retired I worked in an office in a multi-cultural area. One year Ramadan fell almost exactly on top of Christmas and Hanukkah which was always a season of tons of food being brought into the office. I really felt for our Muslim co-workers surrounded by bowls and bags and platters of food everywhere while they were observing a lengthy fast. Even though part of it was probably outside of dietary rules it must have been annoying.
My first Eid in a Muslim country was in Islamabad, when I was woken up at moon rise by the sound of an AK-47 on full automatic. As soon as I figured out it was east of me I got out from under the bed. At least I knew which direction it was pointed, unlike sometimes in Texas on New Years.

As long as you don’t play coy and hide behind clouds the next night.

We have a new moon now, which you can’t see, I think, but I imagine that isn’t the important part.

May someone look at you as longingly as Muslims look at the crescent moon on the last day of Ramadan!

My Father-in-law loved when Ramadan fell in the winter months… shorter time of fasting. He said mid-summer was the hardest.
