never used AOL; still use Yahoo! (and even rarer, Gmail)

Close. When verizon got out of the email business here they sold the addresses to AOL.

I don’t, I didn’t even have a computer at the time of aol.

Is it real mail or just this stuff on the computer?

… or you might be using a free AOL email address as a “throwaway” address for those web sites that require an email address to get information, or when you order something on line and you know that the address you give them “in case we need to get in touch with you about your order” will end up on a spam list that will be sold over and over again.

Got rid of AOL and went for mail enhancement.

Looks like AOL and Yahoo getting sold to another company again. How many companies are going to own em and all the user data associated with em.

Still? Is there something else?

Hey, I hope that’s not some kind of insult to us AOL users! The five of us are kind of sensitive to unwarranted ridicule.

I’m still using it and works fine.

We’ve been using the same AOL email since the days of waiting for the phone so the 28K baud modem could use the line. And then the dial, the wait, the redial, the wait…

My dad still does. It’s his and my late mother’s initials @aol.com.

…or for some reason, kept in a drawer loads of those AOL.com CD-ROM disks that kept arriving in the mail.

When anything demands an e-mail address they get my AOL address where their prattlings can propagate and commiserate with 4100 other pieces of junk mail.

I have Verizon FIOS. Gigabit connection. THEY sold their email to aol. You have to login to that to get your verizon.net emails.

Guilty.

I actually still have aol. It does what I need, and I can figure it out!

Verizon just sold off AOL – don’t know why anyone would want it. Portal days are long gone.

Proud to say that is still the only personal email address I have.

Never had AOL.

My main email address and the others I have and use are all gmail. (I have different emails for various groups, work, family, to give out when need to businesses, etc.) Husband was using one from our cable/Internet company and he had trouble getting email when on trips (which why I did not use the ones from the cable co) and switched to gmail also.

I also still have yahoo and hotmail addresses from before – but I am down to 2 hotmail addresses and 3 yahoo addresses, they are not used and are only checked once a month – they are “just in case” such as if gmail decides to charge for theirs.

It does amaze me that in the 2 clubs we belong to, how many people still have AOL emails and some of them are not that old.
