Hint: Strangle beast to create a “chain” of events for escape.

And Tarzan ain’t the leash bothered.

DID YOU TAKE HIS KNIFE THIS TIME?

Poor puddy tat.

The problem with a lion is that it wouldn’t strain at its leash, it would just turn around and eat its four stalwart keepers.

I’m thinking the lion is an old friend, thorn in paw type

Nemone: “You continue to spurn me?”

Tarzan: “Is this a rhetorical question, or do you really expect an answer? Besides, you forgot to put the word ‘do’ in the beginning of the sentence. You should be more punctual about grammar.”

This plot comes from “Tarzan and the City of Gold,” the 16th novel in Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Tarzan series. It has Athne, Cathne, Nemone, and this climactic lion hunt, which so far is differing greatly from the book. I’m not going to spoil the book’s ending just yet. (BTW, the book gave this hunting lion a name—Belthar.)

Now for the mane event.

“Can we get on with this, Nemone? I’ve got another crazy Queen to fight tomorrow…”

The lion is thinking “I gotta get outta here. This psycho will kill me!”

Good Lord, out for three weeks, and Nemone is still pining for the Ape-Man. Has anybody told her she’s gonna need a bigger lion?

Weak keepers. Tarzan could keep that lion restrained with one hand tied behind his back.

It’s going to be a bit harder with his hands tied behind his back, but not really a problem.

No doubt Tarzan has a paper clip with him to get out of the handcuffs.
