Archival is just going to have to talk to himself because ranting to Sam and Tracy isn’t going to do any good.
It seems that crobinson019 might have been right yesterday when he said, “I see the mayor wanting to sweep this under the rug (since doubtless Archival is one of her supporters).”
Didn’t Archival know kidnapping is a grievous federal offense? His prisoners were last known to be on his premises, he would be questioned sooner or later. What was he thinking?
There is still no mention of Mr. Bribery’s ring. I see in panel 2 that the ring is being removed from Mr. Archival’s hand before he is placed inside a cell.
Hopefully, he’ll be in a nice Bloom County scenario. OPUS: What are you in for? CELLMATE: Strangling Oakland. OPUS Must be some old sports expression, right? CELLMATE: No, I strangled every single person in Oak- OPUS: Tut-tut – enough of this chit-chat. Have I shown you our lovely commode?
Well, I’m certainly glad to see Mr. mouth is getting his foot jammed deeper into it. Good work, Mysta! Your a woman after my own heart! (giggles) He deserves everything he gets.
1-COP PASSENGER: STOP! YOU KNOW THE CLEARANCE IS TOO… KEE-RASH!! low.
COP DRIVER: Oops. I guess we got another unmarked car for the Detectives.
2-MATRON: I just can’t break my old habit of wearing gloves to keep the ink off! Oh well. I’ll need them later for the cavity search anyway. There you go, Mr. Lee – that’ll give you access to any area of the precinct – AS LONG AS IT’S YOUR CELL! That’s a little matron humorSTAN: VERY LITTLE.
3-STAN: I GET ONE PHONE CALL! I KNOW MY RIGHTS!
DT: Give him access to that phone that always goes to that phone and recorder on my desk. I’ll pretend to be his lawyer and get his confession on tape. That always saves us a ton of evidence collecting.
COP: Not to mention bruised knuckles when we have to beat a confession out of ‘em.
Yesterday’s strip would have been a great strip to end this storyline on … not sure now if Archival still has one last card up his sleeve & this storyline has one more plot twist coming, or if Joe & Mike are just dragging this story out longer than necessary. Personally, much as I enjoyed this story, I’m mostly waiting to see if that FlatTop appearance a week or so ago was foreshadowing a BIG STORY coming up or was one more of Joe & Mike’s teasers than they never exactly follow up on.
I like Sam’s expressive reaction to the bloviating Brock Archival (panel 2): in effect, “Your whining bores me.” And the Fingerprint Technician (with long sleeves) and the two Corrections Officers in panel 3 must all likewise be (at least) wryly amused by Sam And Tracy’s reactions (though we cannot see the ponytailed female officer’s face). I hope Tracy is able to enjoy his lunch. Mayor Armstrong is not likely to intercede for Archival unless he is a really big donor, meaning not less than in the tens of millions!
And where is the ding-dong Magic Ring? Mike and Joe owe us at least some indication of its disposition!
A fellow like him did not play well with others as a child. Chances are his parents had to hire tutors. No principal is going to put up with a student who has temper tantrums.
Sam yawned…who could blame him? The suspect is getting boring. Talking trash…somewhere out of sight of us the readers…everybody is covering their ears.
Well, I think the last frame is a nice transition to the next sotry, which I think probably involves Diet Smith in some way. If I’m not mistaken, Smith has a safe in the background where he will keep the ring safe from malfeasance.
Mysta and Vera finish on friendly terms, but they were never unfriendly to each other, except momentarily. So everything is back to normal and they didn’t end up married to each other. Also, Honeymoon did not run off and solve the case by herself, as some claimed was inevitable. Also, Annie never did show up. As Honeymoon mentioned back at the beginnning, Annie was travelling this summer, so she wasn’t available to visit Honeymoon.
Despite some faults, this was the sort of story that I think Mike is good at and I’m glad to see that he’s getting back to that style. More details on that later. I didn’t get a chance to write up my comments on “The Collector” yet, but I will update this post throughout the day.
I guess maybe I’ll repost this on the new strip whenever it is up.

Would’ve been cooler if Diet’s stolen space coupe didn’t crash, but returned with some alien bad guys……give Tracy a real challenge for a change, lol

Why would it say Booking Outside the police station?
Unless that’s the name of the street?
Could the police station be on the corner of Booking and Mug Shot? Just askin’

Archival will REALLY LOVE the orange or other prison jumpsuit that is assigned to him to wear while in booking and in prison following sentencing…
He will also be given a suit to appear in court in…
Neither has a turtle neck shirt…/sarcasm

Why does Inspector Whitehall get all the publicity just because he was “lucky enough” to be stranded on a granite island with Tracy?
J.Scotland Bumpstead(1934) was just as good.
Besides, when Kilian used Whitehall twice he made him look like a dithering idiot.
