It didn’t work – I remember the PSAs on TV (I’ll have to watch Darryl Heine’s link)…
But: when it comes to scientific measurement, or even measurements in engineering or mechanics, metric is far superior and precise. I have some SAE tools when they are needed, but for the most part, metric sized tools are the norm. (Yes, I work on my own cars). ;-)
-40C = -40F. 1 kilometer = .6 mile. 1 liter = @1 quart. 1 yard = 39 inches. f I have to look up or calculate everything else. Somehow when I hear it is 27 out, I feel I need a coat. I don’t know how you get used to that.
I feel that Roy and Franklin would have made a good duo. I can imagine a story arc in which the two of them share an adventure. What do other commenters think?
To quote Lucy, (or was it Sally?) “16 ozzes in a lb.” Now, an ounce of water weighs one ounce and there are 8 ozzes in a cup, 2 cups in a pint and 2 pints in a quart and 4 quarts in a gallon. A gallon of water weighs 128 oozes or 8 lbs and that is so much easier than 1000 millilitres of water weighs a kilogram./s
The constant conversions back-and-forth between the two systems was what was confusing. The metric system is very simple with everything being based upon multiples of ten.
The best approach would have been to drop the old system completely and start anew.
That’s really the secret THINK metric… get used to thinking of things in metric measure and STOP trying to convert from obsolete systems in which there is no system at all. (i feel better now)

Never mind scientific measurement, when I cook I use grams for weight. Sooooo much easier than ounces.

As a Canadian grade school kid in the 1970s, I was glad I was able to learn the Metric system only; it is so much easier than Imperial.

Think a different system, pass it on.
Doesn’t matter what the system is, could be meteric, Imperial, mesures usuelles, Scots units of measure, hands, ect.

Metric to imperial is only kind of works I read that in the UK their imperial measurements I think are like 20 larger than the US ones.
I use mm inch feet mile.
