Well, we got out-foxed by the writers. Instead of having to steal all that equipment and try to operate it, the Apparatus just has their inside guy run some unapproved trips.
If there is more than 20 Mil. when Mumbles retrieves it; I would keep anything above that amount on the hush hush. If there is actually less when found I would start sweating as it is an easy assumption I dipped in the cookie jar and then offer the excuse that some had been spent before sequestration.
Never thought I’d empathize with mumbles, but I know how he feels. You get all this work and when you finally finish it, they’re not done with you yet.
Shux, if they just sort of high jack the time drone (like the 52 Gang did with the original Space Coupe those many moon ago…) they could go retrieve Capt. Kidd’s treasure chest and the Lost Dutchman Mine and then they all retire………
Good evening Mumbles, your assignment should you decide to accept it, which we know you will do is to retrieve the $20 million hidden by Carter behind the abandoned house. As always should you be caught or killed, we who sent these instructions will deny knowing you. Should the authorities approach us, we’ll say “who is he, we never heard of him” and we don’t know what you are talking about". Plausible denial, Mumbles…we got to cover ourselves.
They say this man Mumbles is uncomplicated and nobody understands him but Dick Tracy….can I get a bit of wah wah pedal on the guitar please….excuse me while I sample the theme from Shaft for this portion of the story.
this storyline is coming from all directions, trying to keep up……of course in real life the storyline would be simple; the government would confiscate that thing in the name of “national security” so fast your head would spin, lol
I guess Mumbles has just qualified for the saying, “no rest for the wicked.” But getting his hands on $20M isn’t too shabby an assignment, particularly if he has Sticky Fingers….
Hmmm…. 2 questions:1 Assuming the Carter robbery happened around the same time as the Dunbar robbery, does that mean the statute of limitations has run out & technically the Apparatus is committing no crime? 2. Assuming they got this tip from their mole inside Diet Smith Enterprises, won’t other drone technicians discover it was sent back in time to discover the Carter robbery loot? Don’t they have some way of keeping track of the drone’s activities?

Good morning™, everyone!
So, I guess this is a few days later. Things seem to have been going well with Sterling Eliot’s illicit research.
Mumbles: Four jobs this week! Finally got some downtime! (assistant brings him another assignment) Whaat! I just got back! What is it?
$20 million seems like a decent haul from a day’s work. Have we heard of this Carter person before? I don’t know him.

Will that “abandoned” house turn out to have Honey Moon’s other grandfather in residence ?
(I doubt it, since I think the story’s still being set up, but it would kick start the action.)

What a setup the Apparatus has! It looks like a law firm. I wonder if they hide behind legitimate businesses.

Dude in the middle panel looks like a terrible cut and paste of 2 different drawings. His left hand, arm and jacket are all wrong.
Weirdness abounds!

The Apparatus has a lot of overhead—they NEED this money

Since Diet Smith is obviously a man without imagination maybe they should offer him a % and make this legit.

So he didn’t steal the drone, just used it?
tcayer about 3 years ago
Just because he hid it there and never told anyone, doesn’t mean someone didn’t discover it at some point and never reported it.
