Eliot had a very short stint as a Tracy bad guy. On the hand, he could also be on that car that was rushing out of the compound that nearly had a head on with Tracy in P1 yesterday.
So, let’s see: Briar Rose, the two guards with her, Mysta, and Sam and Tracy are fine, as is some anonymous older man. That means we don’t know about Diet Smith or anyone else who may have been working there, including Sterling Eliot, but I wouldn’t think he survived.
I like the silhouette of Tracy in the last panel with that recognizable profile.
Does anyone think they’ve killed off Diet Smith? I think it’s possible. He wouldn’t be the first fictional scientist who dies after messing with nature.
I’m glad Mysta Chimera survived. She was probably about to go out, which is why she had her purse. That and the clothes on her back may be all she has left.
Magically, Mysty is unscathed while the guy in the last panel looks properly scuffed. Red will be escorted out while second guard helps with finding others who need help getting clear.
This is the trigger. Somewhere, deep inside the twisted genetic code that is the makeup of Mysta, something responds to the pulse from the destruction of the Time Drone. A grotesque, horrific mutation begins and Mystra under goes the mutation to her Ultimate Forme…Mega Mysta Chymerious!
More top-notch art. Briar is escorted from the disaster at Smith Industries to a cell waiting downtown. Mysta needs no assistance to escape the smoke and flames. Sam aids an injured man, while Tracy is on the wrist wizard to the EMTs. Sterling is a goner. A mind out of time. Who else is all out of future? Smith has probably survived. Were his eyebrows singed? Kudos to Team Tracy.
Here’s my question; what happened to all those characters like Blackjack, Double-up and, (gasp) long dead Mumbles who made cameo appearances in this meandering tale? And reader’s fascination with “Mysta” remains "Mysta-fying to me.
Person who almost collided with Tracy and Sam must have been going to get help…the explosion must have taken out all the communication systems. Meanwhile where is Diet? In a fall-out shelter?
If I remember right,Mysta lives in a HIGH RISE section and one of the few things she can’t do is fly under her own power. Will somebody kindly locate a ladder?
And afterward…Junior and Sparkle’s guest room? That’ll be fun.
We should declare a temporary truce on the “back to the drawing board” wisecracks.
This is no “little thing”.This is serious World Trade Center stuff. We probably won’t get a real handle on things until next Sunday. The rest of the week shall be devoted to “rescue and evacuation”.
If you t hink back to 1972’s Peanutbutter/Industrial Sabotage story,Diet’s plant adjoinsa major multi-lane highway!!
Nice 3rd panel shot of Tracy’s silhouette calling in all the help they can get.
And from now on,if Diet Smith invented a new kind of shoelace;people will ask “Is it safe?”
Okay. Today is looking a little less likely that Mysta and Dietrich are being written out of the strip. Not that I wanted either to go away, but the precedent was set long ago for spaced-out characters to go out with a big bang!
Mysta doesn’t look particularly hurt, but she does look shaken up. (Which is reasonable under the circumstances. I’m still wondering why Rose was so seriously handcuffed, when it’s not clear that she’s done anything criminal. (I get that the cops wanted to talk to her; but does that justify this level of restraints?) As many others have said; the art is great!
Coming to terms with the Time Drone Disaster at the sprawling Smith Industries complex. In panel 1, the Security officers, who were near blast-central, divvy up holding onto Briar Rose, whose hands are twist-tied, and going to the rescue of a fallen individual; this is the best I’ve seen of Smith Security, competent for a change. Panel 2 shows shaken but not injured Mysta Chimera fleeing her damaged but not destroyed apartment—not, I think, the same one shown being blown up in yesterday’s installment but rather a similar apartment quite possibly in another building, a footprint further from blast central, the secret projects lab (where Sterling Eliot may well have been vaporized, so that no tangible remains will ever be found); such virtually identical units are not unusual in large complexes. And in panel 3 Sam helps an injured bald guy from a car, maybe the one that may have collided with Sam and Tracy’s squad car, while Tracy in background silhouette barks instructions for emergency services to 911 or the like via his his wrist genie as he surveys the disaster scene….

Looks like it was Mysta’s place in Panel 2 yesterday. But she seems unmarked.

Reminds me of the time, on “All My Children,” that production built a huge, elaborate two-story interior set, then blew it up with practical effects.
The New York Fire Marshals gave them all manner of grief after the fact. ✨dennis4476 Premium Member about 3 years ago

Too much with the explosion scenes, one day’s enough!
Red’s definitely handcuffed!
If only Mad Mindy had been “removed”, I’d have given team Tracy another Harvey!

Maybe it’s just because it’s extended but that guard’s right arm is a lot thicker than his left.

Oh, come on! A blast that size and everyone comes out relatively unscathed? Modern Tracyville, I guess. Bombs go off, nobody dies.

There are “Exit” signs that glow in the dark, thus they don’t need electricity, not even batteries.

I prefer something that is radiation driven as it would work continuously.

I’m going to predict Vera offers to let Mysta move in, since her home was destroyed… And saying a little prayer she doesn’t accept.

2-HORNY: Talk about Panic At The Disco This is insane!
3-SAM: LICENSE AND REGISTRATION BUDDY! Look what your terrible driving caused!
DT: This is Tracy. Something seems to have happened at Smith Industries. Thankfully, I am not injured. I repeat – I am not injured.
