If you don’t count the buzzing of snowmobiles…do they still have those? They marred the peace of snow days in my hometown in the 70s.

That WAAAAA you hear is when the sled ran over Hobbe’s tail.

You steer it by leaning, Calvin. That’s how we used to avoid the mastodons back when I was a kid.

Caught a Tiger by the tail there, Calvin. Wait till he catches you….

Reminds me of a short story I read as a kid. Silent Snow, Secret Snow.

Brian recently reminded me of the time when Calvin left Hobbes in the woods and had to go looking for him before Mom sent Calvin to bed and went looking for Hobbes with Dad. Today’s strip makes me wonder whether Calvin will go to fetch Hobbes back or wait for Hobbes to come to him in the hope that Hobbes will have calmed down.

I know that Brian refuses to accept that Hobbes isn’t part of Calvin’s imagination and has even told me that Bill Watterson was wrong when he said, “I suspect he’s more real than any kid could make up.” Despite some people agreeing with Brian, I still agree with Watterson.

I can’t remember the last time I saw a toboggan, let alone one bearing a screaming tiger.

That was not nice, Calvin. Sure there will be payback.

Wait’ll Santa hears about THIS, Calvin! No “Christmas loot” for you!!

Hobbes was imagining what it would have been like without any people around. That would have included Calvin.

Thank you, Corporal Chaos. Now go fetch your toys and lug them back up the hill.

Calvin often (usually) surprises me, but it was easy to see this one coming.

’Twas a few days before Christmas, when all through the meaddow, not a creature was stirring, not even a tiger.

But then Calvin had other plans.

Wow! Imagine what it would be like if Calvin was President. Stirring up bee’s nests… everyone watching their p’s and q’s… not knowing what to expect next… every day being interesting… fun… full of wonder, but challenging… Oh, wait! We’ve already had that.

When I was a lad, they came out with the ‘’Snow Saucer’’.

An Aluminum disc with two canvas handles and absolutely no way to control direction, except to roll over and get a facefull of snow. Tons-o-fun!

First two panels kind of sums up life. Though in both you can lean into your hopes.

This one reminds me of my favorite “Cow & Boy” strip, where his father ends up going down the hill, and I can just imagine a “Goofy Yell” right there at the end… ☺

Calvin is wrong. You steer a toboggan by dragging one foot or the other in the snow.

Calvin sure set him up for that sled ride!
