This makes more sense. All of what’s been sold has always been just a little bit suspicious and much too fantastic.

Bible is only an amazing and fictional book.

Those two bible stories never made sense to me. The story of Noah’s Ark is one of genocide and incest, by an omniscient god who didn’t foresee how his creations would react, and the story has a family theme park dedicated to it.

Meanwhile, at least 4 of the 10 commandments are “worship only me”, and fail to forbid acts such as rape and slavery. The sacred 10 have differences between Exodus 20:2–17 and Deuteronomy 5:6–21, and they appear to be based on even older Mesopotamian laws.

Noah’s story didn’t exist in ancient scripture until the Babylonian exile where they heard about the ancient flood that occured at the Black Sea. They evidently thought it was so cool that they added it to their collection.

I’ve always been disturbed by the fact that there are world leaders who believe in imaginary beings.

Wait until they get to Building Back Better and brain numb drool bucket fools ignore the border crisis, supply chain stoppage with shortage of workers (ie truck drivers), leaving American supporters at the “mercy” of the Taliban while bringing in unvetted foreigners and relocating them to unsuspecting places in the country under cover of darkness, mandated vaccinations to people who are either immune or choose not to get them, critical race theory being mandated in schools and defunding the police etc etc etc. Let’s Go, Brandon.

I don’t quite get it. What are they doing? Is that Moses with the ark and Noah on the road?

There were more witnesses to the fact that Jesus Christ rose from the dead than the number of witnesses that most atheists even actually were once alive. The Bible prophecies have been fulfilled. Read the book of Daniel to see where the world is today.

It’s kind of a sweet deal. Somewhere someone thought up that being a middle man between God (pick a deity, any deity) and everyone else was easier than plowing fields, raising livestock, and/or producing anything. All you have to do is make some speeches/sermons on a regular basis, tell them ‘shame on you’ for breaking ever more complicated rules and collect tithes, indulgences, whatever else people donate for charity and you’re pretty much set for life. Someone should write a paper that studies major organized religions and compares cash flow. I’m thinking they are pretty much the same.

If you approach the Bible with the understanding that it is mostly stories with a moral, then you probably get more out of it than taking it literally.

Even here, with this story line, Moses still doesn’t get it right. In his time, the Hebrews had the miracles of God in Egypt and during the Exodus but they still had the golden calf. During the time of the judges, the walls of mighty cities fell before the Ark of the Covenant, but they still had Baal. The people then, as now, didn’t buy into it all that well. Even today, we have the miracles of God about us, but how well do we follow the tenets of His Son in our daily lives, but follow after our own false gods.

If you’re looking for fictional characters to admire, stick with Harry Potter and Hermione Granger. Much more realistic, and lots nicer to boot.

It’s been proven many times that the Bible and the whole story is just a rewrite of other, past scams designed to keep the ignorant masses in line and to keep a few at the top in well fed and supplied. Never doubt human ignorance.

Mark Twain, in Letters from the Earth, ran the numbers on Noah’s flood. He supposed that the rainfall was enormous and gargantuan: not just a couple of inches over the course of an hour, which a rippin’ good thunderstorm could drop on you, but 10 feet an hour. He skipped over how the drownings and devastation due to rushing waters from that first hour alone would’ve probably wiped out 99% of the land creatures on Earth but went on to extrapolate it into 240 feet in a day, yielding 9600 feet over the course of the 40 days and nights alluded to in the Bible. And “At last the Ark soared aloft and came to rest on the top of Mount Ararat, seventeen thousand feet above the valley.”

Believers refer to agnostics as atheists. Actually, true believers and atheists are at opposite and extreme ends. . . an agnostic is a person who holds the view that any ultimate reality (such as God) is unknown and probably unknowable broadly : one who is not committed to believing in either the existence or the nonexistence of God or a god.

The people who I feel for are those who entered the ministry but have since lost their faith, but have no other skills to change vocations.

Many of us are too smart to fall for all those illogical myths. We believe in Science.

I was born and raised a Catholic. I was educated in a Catholic grade school. As a student in Jr high and later in Sr High I started to see through some of the so call mysteries of the Catholic faith. I have not abandoned the Catholic faith, but I do not truly believe its teaching, I do not attend church at all and of you rse do not receive communion along with confessing my many sins. The revelations of the sexual abuse by priests, archbishops, bishops, cardinals and church officials just about push me totally out the confessional door. It’s the good work be the millions of good Catholics that keep me as a cafateria Catholic. I am not the pious catholic boy, who went to church on many a weekdays during summer vacation. I am now a 70 year old lapsed Catholic who ’s been burned by the Church and its hierarchy.

There seems to have been a flood, if not several in the Mideast in ancient times. When you have two rivers in close proximity floods would be a normality. “All over the world” would probably have seemed to be just that when you are ignorant of what else is out there.
