I guess we can be reasonably sure that the mysterious hooded hitman has been shot dead now. Briar Rose does seem very cooperative, as a few people predicted.
Was she really a bad guy who is now so grateful she will spill it all, like a full punch bowl tipping over, or had she turned a new leaf months or years ago and agreed to this undercover stint as some kind of bargaining ?
Looks like Sam took this buzzard out to lunch, and the poor man will not have the satisfaction of a tasty after meal burp.
I never knew Sam’s eyes changed color during moments of stress/adrenaline. His eyes are brown on Sunday when he fires his gun. Today his eyes appear to be green. Holy color changing abilities!
You might have an issue with main character plot armor when even the strip’s creative team finds it too boring to show how the fight ended. And kudos to the genius Briar Rose, who is now all too happy to incriminate herself and destroy her reputation in the criminal world by snitching to the police instead of just stonewalling them (because they still have nothing on her) and dealing with the Apparatus on her own terms.
Wouldn’t it be something if Rose’s testimony led to the destruction of the Apparatus once and for all? For one thing, she’ll be able to reveal the location of their HQ and who runs the organization. This could be the start of something big.
Met Joe Stanton at comiccon in Albany yesterday. He seemed a little tired, but probably had every right to be. He had some Tracy stuff displayed, but to be honest I would have really preferred to talk about E-Man he did for Charlton many years ago. Complimented him for his run on Tracy.
(two hours into interrogation) “Clark Kent is secretly Superman. Soylent Green is people. When a woman says ‘you take the last piece of cake’, she never means it.” “Gee, Tracy. When she said ‘everything’, she really meant it!”
Briar HAD no plans to turn informant, even if she had been arrested. UNTIL the Apparatus decided the small chance of her turning was too big to take. Guess What boys? Tha small chance has turned into a probable 100% certainty.
1-SUKI: Wow. Both you boys like it rough, eh? That’ll cost you extra. Plus I get whatever’s in dead guy’s wallet.
2-SAM: I’m a cop. Tracy wants to ask you some questions. The handcuffs are for your own protection. You know how hysterical you chicks can get and then you start flailing your arms around and all and before you know it, stuff gets broken.
3-SUKI: Why does Tracy wanna question me? I’m clean. And I mean that in every sense of the word if that gives you any ideas, Big Boy.
SAM: Big Boy? Nah. I just ate. Plus there hasn’t been a Frisch’s in this town for years…
I miss Gould’s renderings of slugs crashing through skulls! Tracy always placed his shots right between the eyes even when he was handcuffed (Smallmouth Bass, 1963)!
The MC leaves me feeling extra sad today. Yesterday, Shane had Briar Rose rocking a Black Widow/Emma Peel/Julie Newmar Catwoman vibe in a sophisticated purple and auburn. Today, she’s back to the primary green & red you’d find in a Crayola 8-pack and has all the oomph of the helper elf standing next to your local shopping-mall Santa Claus. Sigh… ”Oh, I believe… in yesterday.” #return2B&Wdailies
Sure-shot Sam has prevailed in the deadly exchange! “He’s not a problem anymore.”
The enigmatic Ms. Rose in panel 3 leaves me wondering just what she really means. Is she really going to “tell all” to Tracy, singing like a canary? Or is she being sarcastic? And, why does it have to be specifically Dick Tracy to whom she sings? —Unless he is the only one who knows her true identity and that she is deep undercover? Or has she some nefarious anti-Tracy plot to pull off if she gets her chance?
So many devious or deviant directions this chapter could go! Briar Rose may (or may not) be evil, but she is certainly interesting, driving the storyline at this point in the narrative!

Nice to see Sam Catchem is a lethal gunman for the law.
And since her boss decided to exterminate her, Briar Rose is gonna throw the Apparatus under the bus…..

Some “luxury apartment” by the way! How could an intelligent woman like Rose fall for such baloney?

“Why didn’t he just shoot you instead of grabbing you? He was holding a gun.”
“You don’t read the Dick Tracy comic strip, do you Sam. That would have made sense.”

Sam and Rose have the same complexion. Hummm maybe a DNA test should be ordered when she’s booked-in

Multiple stuff to like here.
1.)“Never shoot first at Dick Tracy”.Or Sam Catchem, either.
2,)I say that IS “The New Ace” who got blasted. He’s got the same muscular build as the new boss.
AND Rose would get an extra jolt knowing it was her so-called “BOY FRIEND” who tried to kill her.
3.)When everything has calmed down,Rose and Blaze Rize can play two-handed pinochle together in witnessprotection.
4.)If that was “The New Ace”,Doubleup is out of a bodyguard job,And he can pack his saddle bag and ride off into the sunset.
