What’s the point of being a magician if you have to get workers in to switch round the decorations?

    One more time…

“The War on Christmas will continue until Christmas gives back the territories of September, October, and Early November it stole and further consents to abide by the ‘no 24/7 carols until after the first week of December,’ as a agreed upon in the Halloween accords.”

Ya know? Many of us get cranky about seeing and hearing Christmas before Hallowe’en. Wonder how the employees who have to install, plug-in, decorate, etc feel about it? After all, they have to do it twice, store and home. Also wonder how many of them take on the million bulb home/yard displays or even follow the Christmas light tours?

It’s all well and good but what good is all this efficiency if you have no one to share it with?

Government efficiency is over rated….in fact the IS NO efficiency. Period! It’s all wrapped up tight in red tape!

Well maybe you could eliminate rules/laws that contribute to the lack of efficiency!

Reminds me of my family. Our decorations always go up the day after Thanksgiving, and always with proficiency.

My wife must be in government. The guys and I went for a little 100 mile ride on the motorcycles yesterday and when I got back this exact transformation had occurred.

I long for the days when I was still a child back in Germany. Perhaps it isn’t like that anymore, but it is how I remember it. We never got the tree until the 23rd of December. The stores did not have any Christmas things on display until December 1. We did have an Advent wreath on the table. The tree got decorated on Christmas Eve by my parents while my Oma took us to church. When we got back, it was all decorated. My brothers and I waited for the “Weinachtsman” to recite a Christmas poem we had memorized to him. We got some candy, nuts and fruit on a plate we were holding. Then we had dinner and opened our one present each. The tree came down on boxing day (Jan. 6), and we kids got to find the candies and cookies that were part of the decorations, to eat at our leisure. This may not be for everyone, but to me, it was perfect. People get tired of all the Christmas stuff these days, even before Thanksgiving, sometimes even before Halloween.

I used to work at a big orange hardware store. We were part of the crew that built those Christmas displays, including the Christmas Trees. There was one job we were not allowed to do, they had a special crew that went from store to store to “Fluff & apply Flocking” to the Christmas trees. No I’m not kidding.

Never confuse motivation with inspiration. Commanding it and allowing it can make all the difference.

The day after Thanksgiving? At my old job we’d have had the Christmas decorations up the first week of October.

It’s easier when the packages are empty, the snowman is styrofoam, the tree is fake with decoration permanently attached … and you only put five candles in the Menorah. :)

If there’s a way to do it better -Government won’t find it, so you should never equate activity with efficiency.
