Did we get today’s strip…..yesterday? I hope your Christmas was wonderful.
I was in the middle, of baking an orange pound cake when my son decided to rip out half the kitchen. All my supplies were in bags. Interesting time. LOL. However the cake was delicious.
Christmas was very good in my family. A couple highlights included a video call from my niece Amy (she was with her husband’s family this year). We just learned she is going to have a baby (her first!) in May. She is due May 7th. It’s going to be a girl! We all cheered upon hearing that.
I didn’t think anyone aside from Mary and Paul were giving Christmas gifts, but I got lots of good stuff. Daniel & his wife, Terre, gave me some canned cat food because their cat died earlier this year. Mary gave me some canned cat food that her cats suddenly decided they don’t like anymore, along with a bag of dry food which someone else gave her but which her cats wouldn’t eat. Paul gave me 2 bags of cat food that his cat won’t eat anymore. I got lots of other gifts, too. I gave gifts too. Everybody went home with some of my fudge.
Another gift I got was seeing the MEN clean up in the kitchen. I’m not saying they did it all, but they contributed. Mary was washing dishes by hand – the things that belong to me and to Daniel & Terre. The stuff that belongs to the church was put in the dishwasher. John had to be practically dragged into the kitchen to dry dishes and he grumped about it being “womens’ work”. Mary and I took great pleasure in taking pictures of John drying dishes. I never thought I’d ever see a dish towel in John’s hands ever in my life. It was great! But I can imagine him next year clearing out and going home before the kitchen cleanup begins. If he thinks we’re starting a new trend (and I think we should!), he won’t likely stand still for that! Paul also grumped that cleaning up is womens’ work. He said it’s always been that way and he’s fine with it being that way. He griped so much that Mary just had him wash off the kitchen counters. Paul’s son, Tyler, pitched right in and helped without complaining. He’s a pretty good guy.
National Whiner’s Day. No, in my family, yesterday was Whiner’s Day. To hear Paul and John whine about drying a few dishes , you’d think we had asked them to do some major job (like bathing a herd of elephants). It only took a few minutes to dry those few pots & pans & bowls & stuff. But they made a mighty big fuss about it.
I don’t mind that today’s strip is a repeat from yesterday. It’s just as good the second time around. By the way Chesney makes an appearance alongside other cartoon kitties in today’s Rabbits Against Magic. On another note, saw two wrens while out walking today.

I guess this strip was so good yesterday, it had to be repeated today. I’m okay with that.
