I remember our home chemistry sets. My brother literally blew (small) things up with his.

I’m getting a pretty good idea what Leo’s going to use that soft serve ice cream machine for.

Buford’s writing reminds me of the early days of the comic strip Overboard. Same sort of sarcastic dialogue patter. Very funny.

Reminds me of the Gilbert Chemistry Lab I used to get every Christmas…until I was in Jr. High where we had a real chem lab with teachers.

I’ll bet that was in the care package that mom sent to her little pumpkin, Leopold. You can’t see the fuzzy bunny slippers he has on that she also sent.

“Legitimate laboratory where I’m able to express my warped, evil mind in a serious and scientific manner.”

Why was I expecting the Book to be “Betty Crocker’s Cook Book for Boys and Girls”???

Don’t be fooled by the innocuous sounding title. There’s some serious hermetic knowledge coded in phrases like, “Now add the vinegar to the baking soda very carefully.” It’s all symbolism.

According to the colorist, Leo’s experiment seems to involve urine.

The tabletop game Nefarious would be great for people who enjoy this type of humor.

When little, I had a Gilbert Chemistry Set (not the really big one, though). I never had any success at “warped” experiments, though; I guess I needed the (secretly evil) Marty the Molecule Li’l Scientist Workbook, too!
