Why is Sam sticking evidence in his coat pocket?

Good morning™, secret papers stuffers ! What Sam is doing and the way he is doing it looks a little suspicious. I hope he is doing that to make sure the papers don’t get wet, if it is snowing or raining outside.

Will those invoices provide a usable link back to Yeti ?

Tracy and Sam already seem to recognize Yeti’s M.O., I guess.

It’s good that they are looking around for clues, but I think it’s very weird that Sam is sticking the invoices into his coat pocket. For one thing, aren’t they going to get crumpled?

There is ABSOLUTELY no good reason for Sam to be stuffing those invoices into his coat pocket like that. I know in cop shows, you always see the cop, for instance, pocket a used shell casing that they’re trying to link to the murder weapon but NO NO NO! YOU NEVER DO THAT. Sam needs to be wearing gloves, he needs to be placing those invoices in an evidence bag and he needs to be logging it at the crime scene. This is too big of an infraction to overlook or excuse.

Maybe we’ll find out why the murderer left the poison behind?

NO! “Needle marks on the body. Seem familiar?” It shouldn’t. The neurotoxins Yeti was peddling in the last arc where he appeared were not administered by injection. They were in an aerosol perfume. It may seem familiar for some other case Tracy and Sam worked in the indefinite past, but shouldn’t remind either of Yeti.

Both boys have lost the faux bows on their chapeaus—oh where did they go?

Wait! Maybe it doesn’t say “Invoice”! Perhaps the “Inv” is actually beginning of “Invitation,” and this is really an invitation to a surprise party in Tracy’s honor, and Sam is keeping it close to the vest…

I hope that’s a good subplot starter!

l don’t want to read too much into the current storyline. It’s premature presently for that, as its thread has only recently began to be unwound. I’ll wait 4 or 5 days before l start to draw major conclusions.

Okay, it’s official, for me at least. from now on, when Yeti speaks, it’ll sound like Mr. Wimple from Fibber McGee (Droopy, for the younger readers). At least for me.

It sure does look as though Sam Catchem is up to something unorthodox, so to speak. I had had an idea, but Wichita1.0 put that to rest with his revelations directed at Ken in Ohio as part of a string of replies to L Silverman way up above. (I was going to suggest Sam was setting up his going undercover as a “dirty cop.”) We have instead been told by the creator himself that what we see in fact has no deep significance intended at all.

What we are left with is that the poison will go to the lab for analysis, and just maybe that something of interest will be found outside….

I learned learn ago in this strip that actions or pictures that seem significant in one day’s strip usually mean absolutely nothing at all.

I just got it! Sam’s PLANTING EVIDENCE!!!
