OK, let’s face it, I do like to crawl into a made bed, but still, I understand—and occasionally follow—the philosophy of “why make it when I’m only going to mess it up again.”
There is some scientific evidence that an unmade bed is healthier. Being unmade allows the bed to dry out more between sleep sessions. I have not made my bed since Middle School.
Way to go! I can relate. I did a little more toward making the bed than usual yesterday, as I changed the sheets. I was able to spread the top sheet out, but tucking the foot end under the mattress was too monumental a task, so I left it and felt pleased that I had gotten as far as I did.
Good for you, Possum. You are encouraging! This is so me! I get overwhelmed by all I have to do. Finally I do one thing and it feels so good. Encourages me to do more. I find if I write my tasks down, they don’t seem like that much……and I wonder why I was stressed about these few things. And, as was said above, the world is not going to end if I don’t get it all done.

Funny/odd story. I struggle with procrastination because of my emotional health too. I was going to buy a new mattress topper because the one I have is over 10 years old and I’ve been waking up with bad lumbar pain which I learned in my research can be a result of a bad or and old mattress. Today I took the foam topper off only to realise that the mattress under it, which is like new because of the topper, has a pillow top on it already. I’m really looking forward to a restful sleep tonight. Praying the mattress is all I need. I hope you start to feel safe and secure again Matt, you’re missed in here. I love your content. After spending a week with my daughter I had to go home and be alone. I didn’t realise how much I missed her until I spent the good part of a week with her and it killed me, I was so lonely. I try to tell myself I’m better off but it’s so difficult that I wasn’t getting any work done either but as soon as I got busy I felt better. I hope you find what you need to get well. The book Boundaries, by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. Jon Townsend and their other books, Safe People, Changes That Heal and so on have been very helpful

Fluffing pillows is hard work, and you did it well little ‘possum. Reframe your thinking by considering that the bed isn’t “messy,” it is “comfy.”
