Amanda, I am with you. Hardwood floors may be expensive initially but so easy to clean, no allergens, and a quick swipe with a dry mop that care of the flooring and lugging a vacuum.

I’ve never had success with that black light. If you have, let me know!

We have hard floors in our entire house partly for the in-floor heat, partly for ease of cleaning, and partly as an accessibility function after watching an elderly relative struggle with walker and wheelchair on carpet. Doesn’t have to be all wood. We have tile and vinyl as well.

Changing colors like an octopus. Guess I’ll catch up on Resident Alien.

When I was a kid we had a Tom that would mark his territory in the house. He went from being an indoor cat to an outdoor cat.

Just be prepared for what the black light shows. You might not want to know.

Oh so sorry Amanda & Dan..All kidding aside this was a terrible problem for me in my old apartment. I could only get rid of the stains and odors at first. Friends and family couldn’t stand to be there after a few years.

Interesting that the same two cats have lived with me now for 2 years in my new apartment and haven’t once marked anything.

We did some research as to what was the best floor for both cats and humans before we remodelled/renovated. Bamboo. It also gives away when it’s time to clip the doggos’ nails.

Enzyme stuff helps some. Also the synthetic pheromone misters. There’s no stopping a highly motivated cat.

I ripped all the carpet up and replaced it with wood and slate-patterned tile. Much easier to care for, and the cats have great hockey games.
