I don’t. I didn’t like sitting there holding her purse. Of course those were different times.

But Arlo, with Janis’ one woman fashion runway show you get a behind the scenes tour.

The only thing worse than shopping is watching somebody else shop

Right before she went into a department store, my sister deposited me into a Suncoast Video Store. Good thing, because I had just bought a floor model TV/VCR with no remote, and here I found a universal remote that worked with it. The previous remote was lacking the button to put it into programming mode.

At JC Penny last week my wife found two signs saying “FITTING ROOM” in the ladies’ wear section of the store but signs were all there was, no fitting rooms. She had to go across the store to use the Men’s fitting rooms.

I don’t miss it at all. I would rather watch my wife put on a fashion show in our bedroom while she tries on clothes. I get to see the transitions between the outfits ;)

There is a reason the sitting area is called “the chair of despair” as we sit and watch our credit cards explode.

my husband didn’t mind. I always wanted his opinion on what I was trying on and he wasn’t hesitant on what he thought since he was going to have to see me in what I bought..

I can’t say I liked helping my wife shop for clothes but I can honestly say I was good at it. I often found her items that she wouldn’t have glanced at that looked great on her and became favorite garb. She would also accept my honest opinion on outfits she tried on.

I think Arlo misses viewing Janis model a variety of clothes, in addition to being able to view assorted other ladies model their clothes, get some jollies and inspiration for later that evening.

When Opryland theme park was open, there was ride called Old Mill Scream. When you rode this ride you were about 90% certain to get totally drenched. I hated getting wet and having to walk around smelling like river water, so I passed on riding. My wife at the time and our kids loved it and would ride multiple times while I waited at the ride exit for them. It didn’t take long for me to figure out that that could be very interesting. Ladies who wore white left little to the imagination coming off the ride and for a dirty old man like me it was highly entertaining. The wife never understood why I didn’t mind waiting until one day she wore white. Busted!

Interesting how the comments here indicate that men (presumably husbands and partners) either love waiting at the changing rooms, or hate it, with no middle ground! I personally think it is great for all the reasons suggested above, plus it means I can sit (I have never minded holding or carrying my wife’s purse!). Also, I can keep track of her: she’s short so if she is browsing, I easily lose her in the racks of clothes, so she has to usually find me.

I admit, there have been a few times I have seen a man holding a purse that he obviously considered to be similar to holding a turd, and I would smile and say, ‘Nice color purse for you!" Some were amused, some weren’t. I will probably do it again if the time is right. Sometimes I get a “thank you!” from a man who is secure with himself. Or maybe it really is his, who knows?

I was with my g/f shopping at Water Tower Place (Chicago). She found items to try on & I found the male couch & chairs to wait at. Already there was a guy in his 70’s & another in his 50’s. I was about 32…. Shortly after a high school boy joined the fraternity. Then the kid muttered to himself, “I hope she doesn’t take to long. We three older guys looked at him & them at each other. I then said, “welcome to the Club” The three older mildly laughed. At this point my g/f returned & we departed. I left to other guys to explain as to the the “why” we had laughed.
