Reminds me of the Geico commercial with the robot in the coffee shop. “I’ve got a latte for ‘Rob Ott.’”.

NEEEEEEEeeeeedooooowwwwww – The sound of ideas going over the heads of people who are thoroughly ticked off because they didn’t get it in the first place and still want a pity party after it has been explained to them instead of just going, “Oh” and moving on.

I think the whole problem started with the “balloon” that ended with an ellipsis instead of a “?”

I once went to a Starbucks across from the Manned Spaceflight Center in Houston. I ordered a double espresso, half-decaf. Being the wise guy that I am, I told the woman at the counter. “I’d like the caffeine on top.”

She was apparently quite literal-minded. A few minutes later, I heard my order called, “Half-caf espresso with caffeine on top.”

I have no idea what the barista thought. I did learn that Texas does not seem to be the place for humorous banter.

Next thing you know there’ll be big Bea Cee Coffee billboards blocking the scenery as Peter tears around on his wheel.

The names are sometimes written in poor handwriting. Clint Eastwood went into a Starbucks one time and the barista, not recognizing him, ask him for his first name, which he provided. Unfortunately, she wrote the “L” and the “I” too close together, making it look like a “U”. So when the other barista called the name, Clint turned to the stranger next to him and said, I guess she’s not a fan."

I have an unusual name. It doesn’t matter to me how a barista spells it, the trouble is they won’t pronounce it right afterwards regardless of whether they invent their own spelling or I give them the correct spelling. If my kids are along, I always give their (far more common and phonetic) names for the order.
