It’s been pointed out before that a lot of times if there is an address in a comic strip it often reflects the date that it appeared in newspapers. Therefore I believe this comic ran early and wasn’t meant to run until March 73rd;-)
At first, I thought it was the locks that she was talking about, and that didn’t make any sense. But then it finally came to me… It’s the NUMBERS she was referring to. I think something besides the locks that would show they were inside would have been much better (for me, anyway). Unless Mr. Unger was in a mood to confuse us that day.
