There is nothing like starting your day with a bit of drama.

I am always upset to hear the news reports where some “hero” dies trying to save a pet. 99% of the time the pet survives.

Do not make more victims. Once you are out, stay out. A fire can double in size every 30 seconds and there are so many toxic fumes inside a house that it’s not worth the risk. Let the professionals handle it.

Oo! I love it when it’s a running story. This one is completely different than normal… not revolving around his own family. I’m curious to see how this turns out!

Just go to the door and call “Heeeere kitty, kitty” and you can say you tried without endangering your life.

That is very risky to try see if cat inside burning home, cat may have escaped.

Cat will carry unconscious Darryl out of the house.

My brother is a first responder. Assuming I survived, I know for a fact he would yell at me until his voice gave out if I did something like that. Someone without gear who doesn’t know what they are doing is potentially adding one more person to be saved (again assuming it doesn’t end up as finding the corpse). And if I get trapped inside, a firefighter/rescuer would have to risk their life to save me.

I hope this is a story that might present a real life public service, and not some “hero rescue”.

FYI for people who don’t know this, all pets that are not caged, can escape faster, than people might, so don’t ever try to save your cat or dog by jumping after it into a burning building. For proof, just read stories about how those pets surved California fires…

The only dog that will stay with the owner is the service dog which is trained to protect that person.

OH HAIL NO! The cat was probably out as soon as the smoke started. No human should risk their life for an animal. My SO worships her mutt and agrees.

Scary, but I’m sure the fire fighters will also save the cat.

Sorry folks, real life dangers don’t apply in the cartoon universe. Unless it’s a dark cartoon, like Perry Bible Fellowship or Buni. I think Darryl and the cat will be OK.

So, why didn’t she get her cat out? At least, she knew where it was, whereas Daryl doesn’t have a clue and will waste time looking/calling it.
