Wrong, so wrong. People in many cities can’t see the stars. And people in the (far) future will be seeing fewer and fewer stars as the galaxies get further away, until they are too far for their light to reach us. It pays to read Neal deGrasse Tyson.

You may not own them, but the moon, stars and meteors are just as enjoyable when sharing them with millions of others.

Wonder if anyone else noticed, but that is exactly the right moon for today, a waxing quarter moon.

And an eclipse next Sunday. Let’s all remember and step outside and share it.

Gathering and hoarding seem to be the mantra for many. The more stuff they got, the safer they feel. Reality strikes when time come to move it, sell it, donate it, or recycle it, i.e., just before the downsize or move to the facility for the elderly. Then they look at it and wonder why they bothered.

On the other hand. today is a day to celebrate those who got us started, helped us grow, and learn to hug.

Few weeks ago, in the wee hours of the morning I rolled over in bed towards the window just in time to see a very bright meteor flash across the sky. Hadn’t seen one like that in many years.

What an insightful commentary on humanity’s insecurity driven behavior such as greed.

It is ‘WE WHO ARE temporary’

In a few years when I retire, as long as the Republicans haven’t stolen my Social Security money that I paid into the system away from me, I may start getting rid of some of my stuff.

Which is the greater irony. We spend our lives accumulating stuff, only to decide we don’t need most of it when we get old. ;)

Just remember, when you look at a star, you are looking directly into the past. Even seeing the sun, you are looking 7 minutes into the past.

It’s a long way to Temporary.

One of my favorite lines from the movies came from the 1987 film Dragnet, starring Dan Aykroyd as Sgt. Joe Friday. Joe is high up on Mulholland Drive trying to romance The Virgin Connie Swail (Alexandra Paul), when her gaze rises to the heavens and she gushes “Oh, look, Joe! Stars! Dozens and dozens of them!”
