I ran my life that way for awhile. But it turned and bit me when the washing machine grabbed and tore the bottom sheet (thus committing hara-kiri) on a day when I didn’t have TIME to go buy another sheet, much less deal with a broken washing machine that couldn’t run its pump to empty itself. Once I got through that week (replaced the machine with a refurb from the local dealer who only charged me a reasonable amount to come pump out and remove the old one) I bought TWO new sheet sets. And it’s been downhill from there…
when you live alone like I do, it’s not easy to fold the sheets seeing as I have a queen-size bed (my stepmother’s mother — who lives with my parents — has my twin-size bed)
2 guys to fold a sheet? jeez, I was folding sheets when I was 5, by myself. Put the basket on the table and stand on a chair, so the sheets don’t drag on the deck. Easy!
ROTFL – He-he-he-he. I do remember living in a converted-garage studio two blocks from the beach in Santa Cruz. It took about half an hour to clean the whole place. Simpler times. Of course, I did have to drag all my clothes to laundromat every week.
I watch Marilyn on CTV and Charles the Butler has shown how to fold fitted sheets and store both sheets and a pillowcase in the second pillowcase. Love watching that guy— he always has great tips!
Some women like to buy shoes and clothes. I like to buy linens. Sheets and towels are high on my list.At least they used to be. Now that I’m old, I’m done. I’ve pared the closet down to two sets of sheets for each bed. I rarely have to fold them because I do put them on the beds when they come out of the dryer.
As for towels, next week my plan is get rid of most of them. We use bath sheets and hand towels. I will keep maybe 6 regular towels for the racks. The rest are going to the local vet who uses them a lot for the cages and such. He has a groomer next door and she uses them on the dogs.
We have back up sheets, but never use them. Once a week; my wife take the sheets off the bed in the morning and puts them back on in the evening. No need to fold them.
I guess I’m the anomaly on here. I was taught not only how to properly fold sheets, including fitted ones, but to fold them so they could fit into the packages like you see in the store.
When I was single I only had 1 set of sheets, which I washed every week along with everything else. It was only after I got married when everything like towels, washcloths, and sheets started to multiply
That’s right, Earl. Your system works for me. It’s the wives—and I ain’t got one—who want to have multiple sets of sheets. )And with only one set, you don’t have to try folding that damned fitted bottom one.)

You can have one set that you use every day and a backup set.

I don’t fold sheets. No talent for it and no patience. I roll them up and shove them in a laundry cabinet. LOL.

This also applies when you have more than one set, but want to keep using the favorite set.

When I wash sheets, I just put them back on the bed. I fold sheets twice a year, when I switch to flannel in the fall, back to percale in the spring.

I have at least 3 sets for my king sized bed… but I take off one set to wash and dry and put back on the bed when it’s done, for the same reason!

I’m the designated sheet folder in my family. If it were up to my wife all the washed bottom sheets stay in a laundry basket until needed.

Earl doesn’t realize the sheets wear out faster with only one set.. cutting corners is not the answer….

I can proudly say I can fold a fitted sheet. Neatly.

Changing sheets: take them off in the morning, wash, dry, and then put the same ones on later that day. No folding required.

I hate the fitted sheets. Some people claim they have methods, but I can never remember how so I do what I call a loose fold.

1. Roll sheet into a messy ball
2. Throw into closet.
Done.

Maybe, but you have to make sure you finish doing the laundry and making your bed before you can go to bed!
