Mr. Memory seems to have truly made new friends, but his owl, Walter, doesn’t seem to be in such a friendly mood when it comes to Tracy. Notice the fire in his eyes?
I wonder if the technology that blocked clear signals from the ATM camera is the same thing Memory uses to block the GPS signals.
It’s great to see B.O. Plenty inventing new names for Dick Tracy. I don’t think we’ve seen a lot of that lately. It seems to me that he did it more often in the past.
YOWZERS!… Walter just KNOWS that Dick will prove to be bad news for his master and is suddenly in protective attack mode… truly one fowl owl… and perceptive, as well…
I realize that it is really a device to let us readers know the GPS signal is getting interference, but I do wonder why Sam would be using GPS to drive to a place he has been many times before. Tracy even mentioned how they knew the way in yesterday’s strip.
But, no big deal. This is still a very fine Sunday page.
Happy Pop Pop’s Day! To all the Pops and Pop Pops and every kind of Pop here in Tracyville!
Walter seems to have a vicious temper and doesn’t take well to strangers. Hopefully, he just wants to add some color to his nest so he’s after our Detectives’ hats. He’s a cute owl with a nasty disposition. This may turn into the meal of the century.
It is only in recent years that I have reconnected with Dick Tracy, having lost contact many years ago, when I was a boy. Specifically, I came in in the middle of the wonderful crossover that wrapped up Li’l Orphan Annie. One thing that I have noticed about the writing, which I really appreciate, is how they round out the villains, making them fully fleshed out characters rather than merely two dimensional villains. For instance, in our current adventure, the way Mr. Memory seems genuinely to appreciate the Plenty’s neighborly ways and friendship. It would have been very easy to portray him as very annoyed and feeling they were constantly interfering in his criminal activities but not a bit of it. He is clearly always happy to see them and accept their hospitality. It makes him a character instead of a caricature.
1-MEMORY: So, is this “Attitude Stew”? A local delicacy? It’s delicious. Might I have another helping?
B.O.: Maybe – in 9 months if ol’ Gertie-Gals up to it!
GERTIE: HAR HAR HAR! You rascal, B.O.! MEMORY: ???
2-SAM: Smell that? Memory must’ve learned to cook while in prison. DT: Well, this won’t be a total waste of a trip up the old dirt road then – I’m HUNGRY!
3-B.O.:Who’s that knocking at my door, asked the fair young maiden
4-…HEY! You’re not Barnacle Bill The Sailor! DT: Don’t you remember who I am, you old sot? I’m…
5-WALTER:I SMELL BACON!
SAM: I GOT YOU TRACY! First I have to reload the 12 guage with birdshot though. Back in a few…
Walter is acting a might territorial there! Tracy may need to retire another fedora, not with bullet holes but with talon shreddings!
Meanwhile, it’s good to see Mr. Memory and the Plenty’s getting along well, at least up to this point (how long that amicable relationship will last is questionable).
And, Sam should not be so dependent on the GPS! He ought to remember, with his very own brain, where Paradise Lane is!

Bountiful spread for one and all. Plentiful repast
Set thee down sans care or frown. Such good times seldom last.
Pass those biscuits over here. With gravy please do smother
That good ham. Blackberry jam! Oh yes, I’d like another
Biscuit or two. What can one do but feed the yawning maw?
Lil’ Attitude stuffs his face. Best leave some for his Pa.
There’s some goat cheese on the side. A Gertie specialty
Hand knocks firmly at the door. Unknown identity.
Walter does not take it well. Takes flight with a loud “Scree!”
Here’s Dick Tracy come to call on Mr. Memory.

What gives?

Looks like either B.O. or Tracy are about to find something they weren’t looking for……

Sam’s ready for Walter’s attack. Afterall, that’s exactly how the Mrs. greets Sam every time he walks through the front door.

Why did Tracy say B.O.‘s full name, like they’re barely aquainted?

You’d think that on Father’s Day, they’d mention Mr. McClairen’s family.

Bracy and Macy were traditional BOP versions of DTs surname. That is one “talon~ted” attack owl; what triggers him??

B.O.’s nose healed up fast from his encounter with Walter…the band-aid is gone. Apparently he has a spare hat on hand.

Now I see the owl in the first panel. There must be a perch which he stays on which is nearby.
