The only real issue with creating art is having people micromanage it while you’re trying to get the job done. True artists follow their instincts, they don’t try please people.
My sister is a stage actress and director. I once asked her what she thought about the review of one of her plays. She told me she never reads them. If you are concerned about what a reviewer is going to say, you get self conscious and your performance suffers. Her system must work, as she has won tons of awards.
I find it odd that we have to appease random people on the internet we have never met and probably never will meet. Anything to stroke our egos, I guess.
Rat is gonna end up like that author who yelled at her fans for leaving ONLY 4-star reviews when she just KNOWS her book is a 5-star book, and called them entitled, ungrateful, spoiled, and all kinds of things

If you can’t take criticism, don’t publish. 90% of what you get is criticism, 5% praise, and 5% disinterest.

Didn’t read the first reviews because he wrote them. Anything after that though…

My favorite review of one of my titles was short but…well…odd: ‘Weirdly compelling’. Yes, right. That was…um…JUST what I was aiming for.

Rat much more interested than he is willing to admit. I’m not surprised that Rat lied in order to save face. He does that a lot.
