Whyever do I get the feeling the roofer’s chatter is taken from real life?
Shame our kitties didn’t get the chance to be fawned over by the roofers when our roof was done. The way the house is set up, the best view of a cat would’ve been into my room, and Sparky spent all the time the roof was going Bang as far from the noise as possible. And that was HER window.
Come to think of it, I know some people who address all cats as girls and all dogs as boys. Apparently the people who do so failed biology in school lol
Yesterday, with his lower face covered. I thought this roofer to be female. I was giving props to Georgia. But I guess she has to tell it as it happened.
If I’m not told, I can’t tell a boy from a girl cat unless I look at their exclamation mark ;) So far, I don’t think the roofer’s done that. Lupin can’t hear them though and doesn’t care as long as they’re paying attention to him so it’s all good.
I know we are all talking about the incorrect gendering, but I think those are just wonderful compliments to get no matter what. You are right, Lupin, about time someone noticed your great beauty. I do predict Goldie envy, though.
There was a little book I got years ago called “How to tell if you’re a grownup yet” by Cornelia Ravenal. It gives a bunch of examples of how to tell you were a “grownup” or “mere adult”. On that basis my guess is that people who are big fans of BCN are chronologically adults but only grownups when they have to be.
My youngest Beauty cat just turned one year old this week. I will do her portraits this weekend. She is loving and cuddly too. Thank you, Susanna in the Orb, for sharing your name with Purrbodys Susanna.
O.T. Thanks for all the good thoughts about my booster reaction! I finally decided that I’d had enough of that “immune response” after 24 hours and popped some acetaminophen, so I do thankfully feel some better today, maybe tomorrow will be back to normal. Now I see that Moderna has a “new and improved” booster with many times more protection ready for approval. I suppose I’ll take that one too when it becomes available, but hope the reaction will not be multiplied by the the increased protection! And I hope all y’all have a great weekend!
My Dad called all cats “she”, even the ones he knew were boys. I think it’s just a habit he grew up with. Don’t know if it was generational, he was born in 1928.

Close your eyes
Have no fear
The roofer’s break is done
He’s having fun just to see you here
Beautiful, beautiful, beautifulBeautiful boy
Beautiful, beautiful, beautifulBeautiful boy
Before you go through the roof
Say a little “Hey ya!”
Every day in every way, the leak’s getting better and better
Beautiful, beautiful, beautifulBeautiful boy
Beautiful, beautiful, beautifulBeautiful boy
Out on the rooftop hammerin’ away
I can hardly wait
To see you deserved your wage
But I guess we’ll both just have to be patient
‘Cause it’s a long way to go
A hard row to hoe
Yes, it’s a long way to go
But in the meantime
Before you nail your feet
Take my advice
Leaks is what happens to your roof while time crunches it whith hail and ice
Beautiful, beautiful, beautifulBeautiful boy

Apparently the roofers don’t see Lupin’s masculine attire; however, they do know a gorgeous cat when they see one.

He feels pretty
Oh, so pretty
He feels pretty, and giddy, I’d say
And I pity
Any cat who isn’t him today
He feels charming
Oh, so charming
It’s alarming how charming he feels
And so pretty
That I can hardly believe he’s for realz
Such a pretty face
Such Lupin finesse
Such a pretty smile
Such a pretty kitty!

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
Thomios: Do we have everything ready for the Bell Ringer Stakes tomorrow?
Sue Chef: Just about. Agnes-Ata said the Royal Procurers are going, uh, “Shopping” for the cheese and honey snacks.
Thomios: Then I think we’ll be ready.
At the Royal Paddock
Lupinium: That was a good run, Avenger. I think we’re all ready for tomorrow’s race.
Avenger: I know you want to win the bell to replace the one Elvis-Anum took from you.
Lupinium: Who are those cats on the clubhouse roof?
Avenger: Oh, those are Burt-Ra’s crew finishing up some roof repairs. But they’ll be done in time for the race.
At the water front
Violet-Ifa: We’re shopping for fish for tomorrow’s events. Do you have any?
Freshwater Cat: Sure do. We have an extra creel full of Nile Tilapia. Just remember to return the basket when you’re done stealing it.
Back at the Royal Kitchen
Thomios: Looks like we can get started.
New cat enters
New Cat: Need an extra set of paws?
Thomios: Uncle Floof!

OT: Update on Husband
Zoomer&Yeti over 2 years ago
Not unlike Kyra Sedgwick’s character – Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson on The Closer.
She always referred to her first cat (Kitty), who was female and gave birth to kittens, as “He/Him”.
Then, after Kitty crossed over the RB, and her husband adopted a male kitten (Joel), she usually would call Joel “Her”.

ABBA: Angel Eyes
Lunch time, I was sitting on the scaffold with a sandwich
And I saw a cute white kitty looking out the widow
And the look the kitty gave made me smile
Cause she was such pretty little cat,
Ah, ha, ha
And I thought maybe I should show her to my friends
Ah, ha, ha
And the cuteness never ends!
…….
Look into her Angel Eyes
One look and you’re hypnotized
She’ll steal your heart and you will be filled with such joy!
Look into her Angel Eyes
What’s that? You mean he’s a boy?
No matter, he’s as pretty as they come
He’ll get you with those Angel Eyes,
For sure, for sure!

OT: Proof that the Smothers Comedy Brothers were ahead of their time. I just ran across the following—not a joke—headline:
Two rescued from chocolate-filled tank at candy factory in Pennsylvania
Without further ado…
I fell in a vat of chocolate
I fell in a vat of chocolate
What’d you do when you fell in the chocolate?
Lolly doo-dum, lolly doo-dum-day
Well, I fell in a vat of chocolate
I just fell in a vat of chocolate…
