Having read comic books for 60 years I know that Holy Moly! was a favorite expression of Captain Marvel A.K.A. Shazam, also moly was a magic herb given to Odysseus by Hermes to protect from Circe’s magic.
And while you’re at that, consider sainthood for Chef Boyardee, unofficial patron of canned pasta. There should be no trouble verifying miracles, as witness many harried housewives and mothers.
Everyone seems to be focused on the pasta and the canned ravioli, with a few minor exceptions (e.g., Angelina Jolie, the pill bugs), but (and please excuse my naivete’) the party girls on the TV screen draw a blank with me (I almost said they were “over my head” but I won’t). Can someone please enlighten me (a strong hint is OK if a direct explanation is inappropriate for a Sunday morning family friendly website)?
I have read all the comments and stared at this scene for almost an hour taking each element separately and together and I just don’t get it. What’s the joke? Can anyone explain it to me? Please use small simple words so I can understand it.
Etiquette note: One does not address the Pope as “Pontiff,” but as “Your Holiness.” I would have been completely mortified if I had muffed that when he showed up at my door last year. It was a great honor, but do I look like I have any Grey Poupon? Ask the pigeons who keep decorating my car!

Is that what I think it is in the lower left? It doesn’t rhyme, but a classic nonetheless.

I doubt that Pope Francis opens his own canned ravioli, especially when wearing his white liturgical robes. Someone else must do it for him.
By the way, I thought canned ravioli or spaghetti was great when I was 8 years old. Now, not so much…
