They should become public storage unit users too.

Yeah, after funerals when people say “I don’t want this but we can’t get rid of it. Keep it at your house.” Most minimalists seem to maximize using others. “We don’t have that, we’ll just use yours.”.

Tell them you’re going to take it all to the dump – and see how fast they want to take it back.

Don’t look. Just take it all to Good Will, Salvation Army, etc immediately.

When things are still in good shape and you hope the kids want it. But they already have their own stuff and don’t want or need it.

Only part I have a lot of is book’s, yet as I finish each one I will not keep, mostly romance novels. My mom had lot of collections of either bells or dolls, that was rough eliminating, dolls not sold.

So, in cleaning out my parents hoard, I filled six 6 cubic yard dumpsters. About 3/4ths of the way through of mostly tossing and occasionally looking, I found a photocopy of a piece of Mongolian currency with the autographs of 13 of the Japanese war crimes defendants which my aunt obtained while a WAC in the crew of military court reporters transcribing the trials. In my father’s handwriting was a note “I have the original”. But he was dead by that point. The original is undoubtedly in a land fill, gently composting. I wish I had spent more time looking.

If they’re becoming REAL minimalists, they should have dropped that stuff at the Goodwill.
