Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s five.

No, but your buddy can be your accountability partner to help you keep all 10 of them.

I’ll keep the first half and take the second half to Los Vegas.

You could “just”, as Jesus himself said (as recorded in Luke 10:27) ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’ and ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ (It’s also in Mark 12:30-31, And see Deuteronomy 6:5). These commandments (if truly followed) would basically ‘cover the rest’.

The next discussion would be over which 5 each would want. And if there were an uneven number of them, the friendship would crash over who would get the odd one.

I buddyed up too! Now we each only have to keep 1/32 of a commandment!

I do not think that the Bible is negotiable.

What about the other 5? The ones Moses dropped when he was delivering the message to the people.

My friend promises not to kill you and I promise not to steal from you. So you trust us now, right?

Got some good news and some bad news. The good news is you can be buddies…

How do you divide them up? If one gets “thou shall not steal,” and the other gets, “thou shall not kill,” then the non-killer steals from the non-stealer and the non-stealer kills the non-killer.

i like the “rule” where it starts out “do unto others…” easiest to remember.

It’s OKAY to steal in order to write checks to LIE about adultery, though, right?

In my entire life I’ve only broken ONE commandment. The one about Not Lying.

I’ve only ever bothered with two, and only actually concern myself with one of those and a second, different one from the original second. And the observation of those two has nothing to do with fairy tales.

You could have the U.S. Supreme Court decide ….. It can decide if the Bible is settled precedent !
