Hoping that other Orbsters besides Kitty Katz and I had the pleasure of watching Georgia’s livestreamed presentation Tuesday night for a King County Library series called Fandom Forward. She talked about BCN specifically and about fandom in general. She also showed wonderful photos, including the RL Tommy, and the RL Man and Woman in Star Trek outfits. I hope Georgia will drop some of her backstory and hints into her comments.
Yup! A perfect and masterful demonstration of ‘How To Make Cats (Especially Lupin) Embarrassed’. By the way, it even rhymes! Disgusting and funny at the same time.
Actually, most product listings are for “Cushy Tushy” in various contexts. There seem to be several attempts to claim a product trademark but I wonder if anyone dares to sue to defend it legally – it would be quite embarrassing. Still, maybe that’s why today we’re looking at a “Tushy Cushie”.
Also on Georgia’s FB. The whole family had Covid again! But are fine now. The Girl even nursed Pippa Fox thru it, picture too. Plus another Tommy tribute coming up; her editors suggested it for itself and also to give Georgia the time to recover. This Covid is just never going to let up is it? We are having a resurgence in our area altho so far Hubs and I have avoided it.
Clearly this much potty discussion is starting to become embarrassing to the cats. The cutesy name does not excuse it. In fact, I would probably prefer if it were called potty hat.
While Lupin’s facial expression is perfect, Goldie’s look is perfect. embarrassment, horror and shock. Like watching your kid ride his bike off the garage roof in front of the whole neighborhood at a block party.
Ah the 70’s when everything was covered in shag, shag carpet, fake shag fur on furniture, toilets, even made into coats, and when every teenage boy dreamed of having a shagging wagon lined of course with fake shag fur.
Georgia posted this on Facebook. Incidentally, Pippa Fox is a stuffed toy. “Our family just got over a rough bout of Covid. We’re vaccinated and boosted, but it still hit the Man, the Boy, and I pretty hard. The Girl tested positive too, but thankfully never came down with symptoms. Be careful out there, these variants are no joke! We had Covid in early 2020 (and it was much worse), but even with the vaccines softening its usual punch, this still hit us for about 5-6 very uncomfortable days each. It staggered, hitting the Man first, then me, then the Boy. Thankfully we had a little overlap, so we could take care of the whoever currently had the worst symptoms. I spent the early days of the Man’s quarantine making soup, he spent the better days of his recovery caring for me, and then we both cared for the Boy. We’re finally all feeling like ourselves again. It was a tough week and a half. A week long tribute of classic Tommy strips is coming up the week of August 1st. He’ll also have a classic tribute Sunday on August 28th. The Covid was terrible, but the timing at least allowed for a pause to celebrate Tommy! I was grateful for the idea from my editors and their understanding (and encouragement to rest and not push myself, too. ) I probably could have inked and painted all day, but writing with a fever would have produced some WEIRD results. Be careful out there! These variants are grade A, certified JERKS. Here’s a photo from when the Girl dramatically announced that Pippa had also come down with Covid. (She tested her with a clean Q-tip swiped from the bathroom The Girl took good care of Pippa, as you can see.”
On July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong & Buzz Aldrin became the first humans to land on the moon. Somewhere I still have the fuzzy pix I took from our B&W TV of Armstrong’s first steps there, & the newspaper with the huge headline MAN ON MOON. I was a space-crazy kid* with a personal connection to the event – before he graduated from seminary in 1967, my dad worked as a machinist & built some of the parts for the Saturn V engines. I wish I could have been with mom & dad many years later when they visited KSC – mom took a pic of dad standing under the rocket on display, pointing out some of the parts he’d built. That thing is a monster! (Not mom’s pic, not my dad, sorry…I can’t imagine dad in shorts & sandals!)
In other news: The Onyx & Zoe Force is hard at work on sis; she’s away visiting my niece & family for a couple of weeks, but she’s already looking seriously at adoptable cats online & has requested an application from her local shelter. Their adoption process is pretty thorough; unlike the other nearby shelter, they don’t allow walk-ins & you have to fill out an application before they’ll make you an appointment. Both shelters are no-kill & have older cats waiting for their forever homes, & sis wants to make that home for another snuggly senior lap kitty (or maybe 2?). Stay tuned…
*OK, I confess I’m still a space-crazy kid at heart, LOL!
…I have a vague memory of a fuzzy toilet seat lid cover – I recall that the lid wouldn’t stay open because the fuzziness was too thick, and the lid would fall in your back while you were sitting there – doesn’t sound too bad except these were the old HEAVY lids…that cover did not last long…
Crazeekatlady has more pictures of her lovely chess set!!!!!! You can see them at HeckydiddleDolls.com. They are in the first few pages of the Gallery.
Moon Day: A day of sadness for me. I had hoped, and dreamed, of being the first geologist on Mars. I could be okay with that if we still had a space program. Yet another curse on Nixon’s, and the rest of the politicians, heads. Robot probes are fine, but they are only the first, timid step. They can never replace “One small step for a man, a giant leap for mankind.”
WHAT!!!!!. That’s the kind of name for one of those foam seat cushions you take to a stadium, not something you put on a toilet. What, are you supposed to leave the lid down when you use a toilet. Talk about messy and unhygenic.
I have BCN at the top of three of my comics pages (Favorites, Animals, & Daily.) This has made me laugh several times today. I LOVE Lupin’s expression! Goldie’s is good too but Lupin’s is hilarious!
Today the contractor installed an eco-toilet with push buttons on the top for saving water. s/ I’m so disappointed at losing the opportunity to buy a lid carpet. /s

Meanwhile, Back in Rhode Island
Behind the Library
Tommy: I thought we’d have a s’more party for Violet-Ifa before she goes back to her time line. And make sure everyone got their Blossom of Blessing.
Sophie: Thank you, Thomas. I’ve decided to plant my flower here so many people can enjoy it.
Tommy: Very nice. Now, I’ve made graham crackers with the Xanadu honey the Ancestors gave me. Please enjoy.
Puck: This is lovely, but you seem a bit perplexed, Tommy.
Tommy: I am. I’ve given my Blossoms of Blessing to everyone I see, but I still have ten left. I don’t know where to look for more people.
Beatrix: I think the key is to let them find you.
Violet: Everyone, Nana Infinity has a few words to say before she goes home.
Violet-Ifa: I’d just like to say it’s been a pleasure meeting all of you. May you all be truly blessed.
