Sounds like one of my conversations when I try to take it into another room. “Now what was I saying…?”

“…and then I stopped, thereby making my point.”

“Really? Maybe I should have paid closer attention.”

    “Not if I bored you.”

    “Okay. Good.”

Don’t those Europeans know that vacations are un-American?

Including when they’re sick, which is very annoying.

I have mostly been a “housewife” for over 50 years. Don’t get days off, don’t get vacations. Don’t get to retire.

He’s not kidding—I once visited France and Italy in August. Most restaurants are closed. My first meal in Milan was spaghetti in the kitchen with canned marinara sauce. My second meal was Chinese take-out. It got better when we spent a day in Bellagio and there was a restaurant open, presumably for vacationing Italians. Paris was a little better, but not much.

Having studied, lived and worked in the UK, I can tell you that the best months for a European Vacation are September and October.

Those long breaks in European and other cultures worldwide play havoc with the supply chain when you’re in manufacturing here and trying to get parts.

I haven’t had a vacation for 20 years now. I am 80 also. Years ago my dad told me once you retire you get no vacations, you just go on trips!

Give it a few years Arlo. You will segway into an altogether topic, instead of trying to remember what you were talking/thinking about
