They did get lower, Calvin. They swamped us with reality shows.Maybe, you became a producer of one of them.

good thing Calvin and Hobbes didn’t become a TV series; Bill Watterson wouldn’t want it that way

The TV & movie industry has been pandering the lowest of the low for several years, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to stop or change direction soon. I watch very little because it has become a wasteland!!

    Forget entertainment.

Go into Politics, or Religion, or even better, Politics AND Religion.

With the latter you’ll get a bunch of people, already primed to believe the most ludicrous things possible, who will then simply believe everything you say as well (lest they be cast out from among the faithful).

You won’t get to control what they watch for just a few hours a day, you’ll get the rest of their lives too.

90 minutes? ain’t nobody got time for that. Try 30 second clips on Instagram or Tiktok, just one reel after the other.

Amazing how extreme violence is permitted, but even a modest hint of it’s opposite is banned or heavily censored.

Calvin should go into TV advertising. Most commercials (especially for insurance companies) are so stupid that they’d appeal to the lowest form of humanity!!

Cal is just stating the oldest premise in advertising: where there’s a will, there’s a way. AND where there’s a way somebody will.

The first script for the Ghostbusters film would have been too expensive to film, so they had to reduce the amount of action.

TV is certainly the B0-0B tube! What garbage…and the ratings are high for reality and some stupid games. The mentality of America is plummeting at an alarming rate, due to the insufficient educational curriculum in this country and the violent, filthy movies. I have a hard time watching movies today because every other word is profanity, sex or violence.

And to think, these people are the future of America….SCARY!

The SAW movie franchise is a perfect example of what Calvin is predicting. Each movie imagines more and more horrible tortures and mutilations of human beings. They are disgusting. IMHO, anyone who can watch that and enjoy it has something wrong in their head.

I haven’t seen it, but i looked it up, and The Replacement Killers is the movie that used the most bullets. They managed to shoot thousands of bullets in only 87 minutes. Do you really want to get more violent than that?

Now it sometimes caters to the pseudo-hip who laugh loudly in places where they think they are supposed to laugh even though they don’t have a clue what is going on and rave about movies, etc about which they are totally oblivious and are total crapola in Starbucks.

But WHY do folks (mostly males) of all ages spend more dollars on violent movies and video games? Yes these companies pander for profit. That’s immoral side of capitalism. But is our genetic code groomed to approve it? I wish I could find a legitimate study to help me understand.

If you want 90 minutes of violence on TV, watch the evening news. This weekend, in particular featured numerous instances of gun violence. A good way to finish off the summer with a bang.

Very true Calvin. Hollywood actors scream hate about guns but it is hard to find a movie with one. They scream about injustice, yet every movie they make, evil pretty much wins.
