If Lucy were ever distracted at the last second and forgot to pull the ball away, Charlie Brown has so much follow through that he’d probably end up on his back anyway.
Nope Lucy is not CB’s mother, but just think, 1975 was 47 years ago. If Lucy was 10 years old back then she would not only be somebody’s mother now, but likely somebody’s grandmother. Don’t you pity the poor kids who had Lucy as a mother! Did they ever once trust her?
I remember a documentary about Charles Schulz on TV which had a clip from one of his last interviews—perhaps it was with “60 Minutes”—in which he became reflective and sad and said “I never got to kick the football.”
You know what this reminds me of? In December 2018, after asking his sixth and final question at PMQs, Jeremy Corbyn appeared to mouth “stupid woman” as he sat down. After PMQs were over both he and Teresa May left the chamber, when a flood of Conservative MPs rose to condemn his “sexist remarks.” These Tories, many of them loud and proud members of the “Anti Woke Brigade,” couldn’t stop talking about how offended they were that he had (apparently) referred to a woman as a woman!
What they did not do was take offense at his apparently calling her stupid. Since they had only just called an intraparty confidence vote which she’d survived by the skin of her teeth, I guess they couldn’t bring themselves to take issue with that, so they found another avenue of attack.

Lucy uses insane troll logic to make Charlie Brown fall for this trick. That, and reverse psychology.
