This is like the “most boring number” paradox. If every number is some level of interesting, then one number is the most boring of them all. This fact, of course, makes it interesting, therefore keeping it from being the most boring, and making it uninteresting again.
I highly recommend a fabulous book by Pierre Daninos (hopefully translated to English), “Un Certain Monsieur Blot”, about a man who won the contest as the most average French (1.834.24 francs salary, 2.3 children etc). and therefore became rich and member of the jet-set. Unforgettable.
I’m probably wrong, but I always thought the other character in today’s strip is Earl’s brother, and Nelson’s Great Uncle. If that’s true, why would he not know Nelson’s Earl’s grandson? Even if this other guy is just Earl’s neighbor, has he never met Nelson in the strip?
Sorry, sometimes I want my fictional characters and their world to make sense lol
I once made a presentation to a MYF group, and my younger son thereafter, in front of friends, affirmed that I was the “coolest” person he knew. I thanked him for his supporting words, but advised him that I was really the least interesting person I had ever met. As he is now a father, I think he understands the virtue of boring consistency.

“Ordinary” … Take it. It’s good.
You could get something like “Strange” (… or “Creepy”).

Take heart, Earl. If you’re ordinarier, that must mean you’re extra-ordinary.

When I was about Nelson’s age I announced that I didn’t want to be a cowboy or a fireman, just “an ordinary man, like my Dad.”
