Darryl must have a day off if it’s a school day. Wren should be entering the room soon to upset any frisky ideas Darryl may have in getting back into bed with Wanda.
The 80’s definitely DID rule!!! Let’s go back to no cell phones or internet. That’s when everything went downhill. Give me 3 tv channels to watch (unless you counted PBS), and Johnny Carson before bed… that would be awesome. (Though I do have to admit… I LOVE getting answers to questions quickly and my GPS!)
so the rule of the day is: you are the parent AND the school’s employer….make your presence known….don’t sit there and do nothing….take the lead and get your money’s worth….
“The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers.”

Sure, the fifties and sixties, seventies and eighties, were great. IF you were a heterosexual, Christian, white man. Women, people who were gay, minorities? Forget about it. Child molestation happened. Abuse happened. Violence happened. All the time. Only difference? You dared not speak up about it.
I was in school in the 70’s and 80’s. Plenty of weapons in school. The kids weren’t dumb enough to actually use them. Bullies got handled after school, off premises.
I graduated HS in the early 90s and though its on the news more now, its no different. My school had regular locker checks for contraband (alcohol, drugs, knifes, guns, etc). Our neighborhood had drive-by shootings and drug overdoses regularly. One of my classmates is still in jail for murdering his grandmother while in HS. School was cancelled regularly for bomb threats and attempted class shootings. The least offensive thing was watching kids get drunk in class. No, the times haven’t changed that much, we just hear about them more.
School shootings in the USA, history, Sept. 30, 2022.
If you look up history then you’ll see that school shootings started in earnest in the 1950’s.
However, in those nostalgically halcyon days, they were done by guns which were not automatic, so the shooters would be caught after injuring or killing fewer than five people at a time.
Nowadays, every school shooter uses an automatic weapon which has been either purchased as such, or modified to be such.
If a person can shoot anywhere from 500 to 1000 rounds per minute, using an automatic weapon, is it any wonder that so many children are killed?
Graduated HS 1970. Mostly worried about my Mom’s health (cancer), and if my 2 older brothers would get drafted for ’Nam. Neither brother did, but Mom died 1969.

1982 was 40 years ago. That means Wanda could be in her late forties.
