We all know about Mike’s passion for nostalgic repechage of old comics very few remember or care about. How this is going to attract a younger audience than those of Vitamin’s age I don’t know. Vitamin who debuted in 1944 stating he was fifty…
Kandi’s mirror image looks good but I’m sure someone will come on to say what’s wrong with it. LOL ! P.2; seductive ‘bedroomy’ eyes. P.3, A kid admiring one of her life’s heroes.
I do like Curtis’s elements of nostalgia fiction, here. I am a historian. But, for people who are not familiar with 1930s comic strips, they may find some of the premise behind The Funny Papers are hard sell, even if adequately explained. My advice is that fans of the strip should simply pay attention as best as they can and they should ask Neil and others questions about the story, if any part of it confuses them.
Vitamin is always a great character! Let’s keep him young! An idea occurred to me that would give the strip a little taste of yesterday and let us have some fun. Let Vitamin and B.O. team up (what a dichotomous pair!) and help Tracy and Company defeat the progeny of an old nemesis. The grandchild of Pruneface or Shaky comes to mind. Vitamin did marry Snowflake Falls, Shaky’s girl. Crewy-Louie and her photography gimmick comes to mind. Chet Gould was a master of villains, so any associated with both Vitamin and BO would do.
It’s great for Vitamin Flintheart that he could cast himself as William Randolph Hearst in what is now confirmed to be the musical “Funny Papers”; a musical format seems well suited to the subject matter. And it opens plenty of options for performers, too.
Hearst was a fascinating, flawed giant in the publishing industry, exponent of Yellow Journalism, politically volatile, and ultimately failed, with a matchingly lurid private life. See the wikipedia : https://tinyurl.com/kdnznnw
And, on a family note, it’s nice to see the Old Thespian in bed together with his young wife, Kandikane….

Good morning™, everyone!
Vitamin manages to be the star of the show even when he doesn’t have the starring role. I wonder how his singing voice sounds.

What’s the thought on KK’s hair by the MC?

Kandilames red curls grew in panel 3.
I really don’t need to see an old fart like vitamin in bed.
It appears Shelley is drawing Vitamin to look slightly younger. He only looks 75, not 90!

He’s actually young for Walt Wallet. About the right age for Skeezix, now.

Hearst was musical?

Hearst: The Musical
Act I – Hearst manipulates America and starts the Spanish American War
Act II – Hearst uses his newspaper to destroy the hemp industry and control wood pulp production. Marijuana suddenly becomes “The Demon Weed”.
Act III – Hearst spreads racist dogma and promotes laws which unjustly imprison 100’s of 100,000’s of African-Americans.
What fun!

Even in cartoon strips the use of Botox can be utilized?

1-GOLD DIGGER: Wow! 8 PM sure snuck up on us fast tonight!
2-…Can you make the blankets over your lap do this? VITAMIN: Of course. But I need both hands to read this comic.
3-GOLDY: Yeah, not exactly what I meant.
VITAMIN: I’ll read you a story to put you to sleep. HEY! KEEP YOUR HANDS ON YOUR SIDE OF THE BED!
GOLDY: Take your teeth out, Gummy Bear. Mama wants …VITAMIN: FAKE SNORES

At least unlike the pre-Y2K- era, they aren’t sleeping in twin beds.

Lately the colorists have been coloring Vitamin’s hair gray. In older strips, it was left white (which I think looks better)
