Our furnace circuit breaker wasn’t labeled and another one was incorrectly labeled as furnace. It took two furnace guys an hour and a half to figure that out.
Reminds me of a rerun of The Dick Van D*ke Show I saw a couple of nights ago. Rob (in a flashback to his army days) opens the hood of his broken-down jeep, looks inside, and says, “There’s the problem. A motor — and I don’t know anything about motors!”
If you’re wondering why I edited the eponymous name of this classic TV show, it’s because when I first submitted the comment, I got the following message: Hold on. Your comment includes word(s) on our banned list. Please edit your message and try again.
Seriously?? That’s funnier than the joke I was quoting!
Referring back to my comment above, what’s even funnier is that I initially applied the edit to his first name. When the comment still wouldn’t fly past the censoring software, it occurred to me that the issue was with the last part of his last name. Sheesh!
Been there, done that – two weekends ago in fact – central A/C (I live in FL) went out on a Saturday night. The guy showed up early to fix it, cost only a couple hundred bucks.

if you want your furnace fixed, MacPhersons, call in the Old Man Parker; he’ll colorfully “sweet talk” it as he fixes it

That’s uncomfortably accurate.

Oh Darryl, you incompetent nincompoop.
You know, people need to use the words nincompoop and okey-dokey more often these days.

My house was wired in 1952, whoever installed the breakers spelled it furnus. I have had to correct several problems over the years.

Water softener is TOO absurd. Water heater would have been funny and more believable. (Doesn’t he put the salt into the water softener?)

You guys have lived there, how long now & don’t know what a furnace looks like?
