He’s been through so much in his short little life. I’m so glad Angus was there to lead them to a safe place. Now we just have to convince little girl kitty to trust the people and cats. I can’t wait to hear her story.
I hurt for them all. There is a dark tortie that was here when we arrived 3 years ago. We immediately got 1 Siamese from the neighbors (“We’re not taking him with us when we move”) and another that showed up “YOU are my PEOPLE!” but the tortie existed on the edges of our lives with some neighbors taking her in when she had kittens and promising they’d have her fixed afterward. Their little girl named her “Mister Ocelot” until she had kittens, then she became “Mrs. Ocelot”. Of course they didn’t fix her and she’s had another litter and now is coming into the back yard at night when I lock the 2 outside kitties into the safety of the garage with their food and heated beds. I finally got to pet her the other night. Getting kitties fixed is expensive and we aren’t rich, but I fear this is another one I’ll have to take on.
I knew her return would be explosive, glad there are just kittens in this strip so she has no people to bite or crash into. They seem to be looking into the camera in panel 2, which is just great. Soon they will learn of all the other cat friends they can meet in this house.
O. Z. as a chinchilla. Not as far fetched as it might seem. When our granddaughters were preschoolers one had a birthday party at a local nature center. In the room where the kids got to interact with animals our daughter got blind sided by a chinchilla that leaped into her lap. We have a picture of her expression.
Bring on the frosts, that I might finally hunker down in the kitchen in my own environment (a huge 1970s playpen That Man found at a thrift shop), beside a space heater and a small bowl of potato chips.
My beautiful and brilliant species did not survive the meteor that took out the dinosaurs (—though I have it on good authority it may actually have been ALIENS—), to languish in a kiddo pool under the torment of an eerie warm breeze in November.
It has been unseasonably warm, which I intensely dislike. Though, yes, it means more time in the giant plastic kiddo pool—it is unnatural and my internal rhythms are millennia old. I do not expect non-prehistoric folks to understand, you simply must trust me. It’s icky.

Chinchillas are certainly riveting rodents, not unlike a certain tempestuous tortoiseshell. ♡(ミゝᆽ╹ミ)♡

Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young: Our House
I’ll talk with Bea
You run and jump
Enjoy our friends
That we met today
Keeping safe and warm
For hours and hours
While the Humans help out
You gotta love them
They’re here
For us
Always for us
…….
Are we home now?
Now we can rest for more than five minutes
Everything is fine
In this purple room
The windows are illuminated by the evening
Maybe we could learn
To love it here…….
With you
And our new friends!
This house
Is a very, very, very fine house
With four cats and a yard
Life used to be so hard
Now everything is easy
Here with you
And our
La la, la la la, la,
La, la-la, la, la, la-la, la-purr
La, la-la-la-la, la-la,
La, la-la, la, la-la-la-purr
La-la, la-la-la, la
La, la-la, la, la, la-la, la-purr
La, la-la-la-la, la-la, la

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
Ora Zedd: Did I do a good job kneading the dough?
Floofnet: I’d say you pounded it into submission, Little O.
Ora: What’s next?
Floof: We mix the kibble filling. We got all the flour, the seasoning, and my special ingredient: Tuna water.
Puckmosis: Have you seen Lupinium? His tumbling class was participating in the Afar competition.
Floof: Yes. I understand they’re in the team finals.
Ora: I had such fun tumbling. I’d love to do it again.
Puckmosis: Why not? You’d be a natural for the individual competition.
Ora: I just need to work on my final THWUMP!
Puckmosis: I’m sure Lupinium can help you with that.
