And of course, the one that everyone speculates on for a reason I never understood…

I suppose the alternative Lord Splendid Humility doesn’t hide in a bush, but rather behind a boulder?

First we see a world in which our counterparts live in real time, then a Crisis is potentially on the horizon. Red skies and disasters abound.

Hasn’t Phoebe already encountered a parallel universe, with an evil version of herself and Marigold?

In an alternate universe, the names are switched, so the strip is called “Marigold and Her Unicorn”.

Let us hope that the nightmare never becomes reality.

I just hope my alternate selves aren’t ~ish, too – and happy.

But isn’t Phoebe’s attitude here in contradiction to those episodes where she met up with evil Phoebe and evil Marigold?

Anything that can happen means anything that has a nonzero chance of occurring. So there would be a universe where a batter hits 1.000 for the season, a golfer shoots an 18, and another version of yourself is supreme ruler of the land. It boggles the mind.

In some universe you could be being devoured by the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal!

If all possible things that could happen to you do happen in alternate universes, that could be really, really bad. War, famine, rape, all kinds of horrible things, not necessarily good.

That’s a yukker of of theory.   For every universe in which everything went right, there are an infinite number of universes in which everything went wrong.

Wouldn’t the vast majority of different Universes be empty of life? The chance that they evolved and became like us is extremely small.

Also, if it’s based on decisions being made, like turning left or right, for instance, how would that work before life existed? Wouldn’t the original universe that spilt into the multiverse need some kind of outside influence to cause it to split in the first place, as otherwise it would be a lifeless void?

While there could be different universes, I don’t buy the theory that we create a new one with each decision we make – someone or something would have had to have made that first decision. Do animals count? Does the laws of physics, as we know them, work like that?

Wouldn’t the start of the multiverse require a “god” to make it happen?

So, in one universe, I could’ve stayed in St. Louis out of high school, attended college, became a CPA for some company, and never married…or, in another universe, I could’ve stayed in Nebraska, attended college, became a CPA for some company, and never married….but I like this universe, where I worked at a restaurant for 30 years, got married, had kids, and never went to college.

Oooh, how about a visit to the universe where Marigold is a human? Maybe it’s the same one where Phoebe is a unicorn. Wait, they could both be the same species in other universes.

I feel the same way as Phoebe… recently i tried to pit this Universe (the one with unicorns) against the Paniverse (the one where cute asians make you chocolate-chip pancakes every morning in the forest). Sadly, the Universe won, and the Paniverse was destroyed (I think?)

    oh well..
