Sigh. Every year, I keep pleading with my mom not to get me anything for Christmas . . . and every year, she still does. I get it. She loves me, and this is her way of showing it. But, I’ve way grown out of the age of wanting materialistic presents for Christmas, and even so, more often than not, she gets me things I either already have, or have no use for.
Well, I made my yearly jaunt over to the AM/PM Mini Mart to do all my Christmas shopping, same as I do every year. It is so convenient. Everyone gets sunglasses, a keychain, a lighter, a Slim Jim® Beef Stick, and an energy shot. I hope none of them are reading here, I do not want the element of surprise to be ruined.
Yes, we know. Luann has the emotional intelligence and maturity level of a 14-year-old. She’ll do anything to get out of chores and she tries to sucker money out of her parents.
WE GET IT. This 80s sitcom teen humor has been DOA for a while.
Christmas really does bring out this girl’s worst qualities. Remember when she was too lazy to buy her dad a new present (or even one that he’d use) so she pulled her previous present off the bookshelf and gave it to him again, knowing full well that he wouldn’t use it this time either? Or how about when she made a big deal about going Christmas shopping, only for it to be a shopping spree for herself?
Nice try Luann, but nobody’s buying it. You can take your supposed moral high ground and throw it right in the garbage. What you actually do is – (1) Contribute nothing to the family finances, in fact, you, and your friend, are a drain on the household budget. (2) You have never done anything to suggest any concern about the global economy, except of course by going shopping every chance you get. (3) You have never been shown assisting or donating to the poor. (4) Your self righteous, self centered attitude and gifting habits (every year) do a very nice job of killing the true spirit of Christmas. Your gaslight attempt is an epic fail.
Ok—-I can understand her making a concession out of respect for family finances but THE GLOBAL ENVIRONMENT??!What possible good would that actually do? Now you’re just snowflaking Luann! Santa should leave you a lump of that nasty fossil fuel called coal in your stocking for such a statement. lol
Translation of Luann’s Christmas Wish List – I spent all my money on myself and have no gifts for any of you people, but I, on the other hand, deserve rewards for my high minded (temporary) ideals.
Evanses, please grow Luann into the semblance a real person. Get her back into a classroom, a theatre, an art class – SOMETHING other than this kind of garbage. Get her back together with Quill or get her a new guy, some new friends even. Your star character should be better than this!
Go get the “gifts” she bought for the family and wrap them up and give them to her, since they are what she wanted for herself. Maybe she will learn a lesson and it could be the start of some changes for her. (Won’t happen.)
only children make xmas wish lists and display them to their parents. Growing up means that whatever is on your wish list you know you have to make it happen. I guess Luann isn’t there yet.

Poor Luann, just can’t get the concept of giving rather than receiving

Don’t expect to receive anything Luann because you fall short as do we all!

On the other hand, if Luann had _asked for something, would she have gotten it?

Don’t try to act generous, thoughtful and sweet Luann. Everyone knows you too well, it will never work.

So get her what she asked for – nothing, zip zilch, nil (not the artist).

Luann is out of high school. The time for getting a bunch of presents at Christmas is over with. You get a couple, and then that’s it.

Why is Brad mooching in his parents house? Didn’t TJ do the shopping for his and Toni’s place?

A spatula is more of a wife gift. For a sister I would go with a large spoon.

Luann had better be careful. Her parents might honor her wish and give to worthy causes in her name instead of gifts.

I told my wife I was going to get her a diamond necklace. She said, ‘Nothing would make me happier.’ So, I got her nothing. I wanted her to be happy.

Whoa! Gifts as rewards for pretending to care about family and world problems. And people thought younger Tiffany was shallow.

G&K will not pass up any opportunity to make Luann look bad.
Some time ago, when Ann was giving Tiff such a hard time, people were suggesting that Tiff move to another strip.
I think Luann should move to another strip. She’d probably be treated better.
