Yesterday the blue jays were eating the peanuts and the squirrels were eating the bird food.

I’ve seen it all! Blue jays are reckless and bullies, the cardinals wait their turn on the ground. The woodpeckers scare them all off the feeders! The mourning doves come after the crowd is gone… Then…there’s the huge hawks who circle above….

I once saw a Blue Jay swooping by the seed head of a plant sprouted from feeder overspill trying to nab a mouthful in flight. Then a much smaller bird came along and stood on the stem to gently bend it down with it’s weight to leisurely pick off the seeds.
