Democrats did that on more than one occasion. The riot of 6 January was just that, a riot that shouldn’t have happened. If Trump’s offer of NG about two days before would have ensured no riot occurred. A partial synopsis of the offer of NG troops by Trump. Which was turned down. Note that the offer traveled up the command change. I find it doubtful, knowing how federal bureaucracies act that the offers did not go all the way up the chain to Pelosi and Schumer. That Trump offered NG troops is proof that he had no insurrection in mind.
