Jon doesn’t get any respect in regards to cooking, does he? He’s actually made great lasagna in the past, and that dinner of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and peas that he’s usually seen eating before Garfield steals it doesn’t look all that bad at all.

Garfield may be paid back for his fire extinguisher wisecrack when he celebrates his forty-fifth birthday in July (also the month in which Fred Basset celebrates his sixtieth birthday).

Garfield, I was thinking the same thing. Jon should have a fire extinguisher in every room…

I used to love cooking foods. In the old days I used to buy cookbooks and found some old ones from 1890 or something that fell apart and tried to make the recipes in them. Someday when I get money, I want to get a place with a huge kitchen so I can experiment. After that I will need some volunteers to try and help me, um, taste test the food I created.

Ah, Liz wants to bring something, so that is proof that Jon and Liz maintain separate households. There was a period where she was around so much, I began to wonder if she had moved in. Granted, that would be a rather surprising development in a strip that tries to avoid anything remotely controversial, but I did begin to wonder.

She should bring a “just-in-case” meal…
