That was us back In the day when we lived in NJ. If it started snowing before we went to bed, it was hard to sleep thinking we might have a snow day. The fire siren would go on at 6 am if the schools were closed and I would be only half asleep all night waiting to hear it. And if it went off, me who wouldn’t get out of bed for school would be up and ready to play in the snow.
Er… OraZ thinks she’s going out to play in the snow with the kiddos tomorrow (well, Monday, I guess)??? She’s not gonna appreciate it when she’s told she won’t be able to go out with them! Methinks she will find a way…
I went back to make sure that this wasn’t already posted and didn’t see it but Burt Bacharach passed two days ago. He was one of the all time song writers with his lyricist Hal David. Fifty-two top 40 songs covered by many artists. He did some with Elvis Costello. Look him up, too many songs to list here. The Bacharach and David song book was my first many years ago. Trumpet player here.
I like the Boy’s choice of bedtime reading material. I used to read poetry to my daughter when she was young. She was especially fond of Jabberwocky, and insisted on it several times nightly.
O.T, Puppy Bowl Tomorrow. For those, like me, who don’t watch the Super Bowl, there’s the Puppy Bowl on at the same time. Half-time entertainment is provided by kittens. What is especially nice is that this is also an adoption event.
The mittens were not buried or tossed out to sea. They were batted under the refrigerator or a heavy awkward piece of furniture. Ora obviously hasn’t been a house cat very long or she’d know that.
I haven’t read all the comments yet, so maybe someone has mentioned this. It appears, in panel 4, that OZ is “wagging” her tail. Or at least, that’s how I interpret the little lines on either side of her tail. Thoughts?
Aw, the children (human and cat) sharing a bed, reading together. And the penguin reading too. So cute! Is Iggy with the Girl, maybe? Simply adorable, all of it.

Pengo has his own bedtime reading! And of course OZ has to think of alternate ways the kittens could lose mittens. . . is The Boy reading her a story?

Isn’t The Woman’s premise (… the faster you fall asleep, the sooner you can …), the same one parents say to their kids on Christmas Eve?

Waitaminute! The Boy is reading by flashlight. I’m pretty sure he is not supposed to be doing that!

Iggy sighting, panel 2. Do you suppose he sleeps with the Girl?

I’d go with out to sea. I do like the kittens cuddling with the other kids though. TI’s adorable. I also like how ora is also tucked in nicely.

There is a nursery rhyme about kittens losing mittens, I must be really old, I can’t remember it ;(

Not every kitten is an Ora Zella. If they were, that tale would be much more interesting. I like how Pengo looks so relaxed.

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
Sophititi: Have you thought about creating knitted wear, Tillie?
Maat-Tilda: Maybe I should. I remember creating mittens for my senior project in art college. My brother and sister loved them.
Soph: Did you celebrate graduation with pie?
Tillie: Of course. I made sure we didn’t lose them.
Acorn Style: Mittens could be just the thing for our resident tumblers.
Tillie: Of course, making mittens for Bea could be a bit of a challenge.
Acorn Style: I know you’ve never backed down from a challenge. Are you going to make mittens for the Royal Procurers as well?
Tillie: Yep. No problem.
Soph: I just thought of something. If everyone’s going to model our Wearable Art, who’s going to be there to watch the show?
Tillie: (Looking out to the Orb) They are!

The wind blew some luck in our direction
We saw what was forecast today
We finally made a happy storm connection
And will get to stay home and play
Enough snow to fill the Atlantic Ocean
At least top off Narragansett Bay
Ain’t nothing like the sky to dose a potion
It may snow for days and days
Snow night
Feels right
Snow night
Sleep tight ❤️

One little kittens, they lost her mittens,
And she began to cry,
“Oh, human dear, I sadly fear,
That I have lost my mittens."
“What! Lost your mittens, you silly kitten!
Then you shall stay inside"
“Meow, meow, meow.”
“Then you shall stay inside.”
The one little kitten, they found her mittens,
And she began to cry,
“Oh, human dear, see here, see here,
For I have found my mittens."
“Put on your mittens, you silly kitten,
And you shall play outside."
“Purr, purr, purr,
Oh, you shall play outside."
The one little kitten put on her mittens,
And soon she went outside,
“Oh, human dear, I greatly fear,
That I have soiled my mittens."
“What, soiled your mittens, you naughty kitten!”
Then she began to sigh,
“Meow, meow, meow,”
Then she began to sigh.
The one little kitten, they washed her mittens,And hung them out to dry,
“Oh, human dear, do you not hear,
That I have washed my mittens?"
“What, washed your mittens, then you’re a good kitten,
But I smell a rat close by."
“Meow, meow, meow,
I smell a rat close by."

When it snowed at midnight down here in southmost Texas nearly 20 years ago, I went ahead & let the kids run outside and play in it.
But then down here, it hadn’t snowed in like 100 years, and there was NO guarantee the snow would still be around by morning.
