Foxo pioneering breaking comic conventions? In #1 we have a definite breach of the fourth wall, and in #3 adding in another panel to a standard 4 panel strip.

For those who come in late, these fabulous fun funnies was envisioned and executed so brilliantly by FoXo Reardon, a true master cartoonist who told his funny tales with his awesome artwork alone, without any of his characters in BOZO ever saying a single word.

An especially excellent epitome of pictures speaking thousand words, BOZO also the most pleasant picturesque pantomime where every panel is like a photograph of a three-dimensional cartoon world of realistic-looking depths and details. Such was his powerful perspective artwork which brought to life a lovely lively world of BOZO!

FoXo a rare combination of both sharp wits and artistic talents which is rarely seen together in the same cartoonist, a true master and professional cartoonist whose work quality speaks for itself and as you can see for yourself BOZO is pure gold coming from a golden era of cartooning! So no wonder that these wonderful wordless wonders still bring great joy and sheer cheer to many even today.

But despite being a great classic of great creative calibre, neither BOZO nor FoXo are much known or remembered these days.

BOZO-Shattered Illusion: Now we all know Bozo can pickup close to 500lbs. (Maybe in BRICKS.) BOZO- Reverse Encore: Sorry Fans, you start the PRODUCE THROWING….Retaliation is only FAIR PLAY! (Get it, they were playing at the fair….FAIR PLAY…OK I hear the Crickets Chirping.) BOZO- MOTHER HUBBARD’S CUPBOARD: Not sure why I ignore Bozo on this, But to see Bozann in High Heels and Stockings with seems, and such a beautiful smile ….I forgot Bozo in the Refrigerator.

2. Good thing that Bozo has Bozann to pitch in. She seems to have quite the right arm (among other attributes). :)

My first encounter with Bozo was here on GoComics about two years ago, so I had never before seen these strips from 1945. While they definitely show FoXo’s superb artistic skill and humor, it is also clear that his style would evolve and improve over time. Later strips have a cleaner, crisper look, with no clutter or unnecessary lines, and an almost cinematic use of interesting background angles and changing points of view. Bozo himself would later be shown in poses and from angles which deemphasized the length of his arms relative to his very short legs, (which can otherwise make him look a bit too much like a chimp in clothes). But one aspect of these earlier strips, which some may wish had not evolved, was the depiction of Bozann. Here, she is dressed and posed in ways that draw extra attention to her shapely legs. I suspect that this is a hangover from the WWII strips which, as part of the war effort, were intended to appeal to the GIs and (as Bob Hope often said) “remind them what they were fighting for.”

1) FUDGING IS FOOLISH: during their act Bozo fools the audience till the “500 lb” weight pops! (Come on Bozo you can lift that easily.)

2) KEEP ON KEEPING ON: Despite the flub they continue their act as the audience continues to throw trash at them. At one point an angry Bozann throws one back!

3) BOZANN AT HOME: Magazine home view of Bozann finds trouble from a very hungry Bozo at home. He gets in the refrigerator to eat that hot turkey.

Oh no. It another SADDERDAY. Me hope no BOZO strip is goes missing.

No Bozo again.

Missing strips seem to be a regular thing now, worse than ever, and this goes back to last May.

So Bozo readers, when you’re disappointed because there isn’t a new page today, or any day, hit the magic Random button and you’re likely to see a page you haven’t seen before. Today I landed on October 31, 2021, and it’s a great one. Your mileage may vary but they’re all good!

Gotta love the stockings with seams! Ah, the good old days!

Eh it looks like there be a pattern here this time? See the calendar by clicking on date above and Saturdays Sundays and Wednesdays only there be no BOZO. But is they continues or is strips being skipped in between is the question?

I’m not aware of this happening to any other strip, Gent. Could be, but if any followers knows of them, would appreciate knowing. Would be good to know that Bozo is not being targeted. There are a number of other Internet comic sites that might appreciate carrying Bozo. I remember reading the submission guidelines of a major Syndicate a few years ago that said, “If your main character is the strong male type, you have little chance of your comic being accepted.” Maybe not the exact words but the very same message. And Bozo is definitely the strong male type, although he is always respectful of the ladies.
