A cat being passive-aggressive? That could never happen!

Hopefully they cover this stirring event all week because i’m into it. Also didn’t get a chance to comment on yesterday but loving the thing yet being utterly terrified of it, I related.

my Sara is a master at the passive aggresive! and my girls do this all the time, but usually when one is inside the bathroom and the other outside. it typically ends when Sara gets brave, hisses and runs past Gracie like the devil is chasing her. Gracie is a bit of a devil.

Hah! Reminds me of the cat opening the drawer and then closing it very slowly when spotting the owner. But seriously, when a window isn’t enough, many cats will look below doors. They want any kind of action.

Oh, dear. Our cats love to do aggressive passivity. I literally just now witnessed an example. JackJack was headed from sandbox (in the hooman sandbox room) to kitchen food station. Abruptly halted just outside the door as Logan skidded into him from down the hall. Jackie let out a curse and gave Lolo a feline Gibbs-slap. I (helpless on the facility) began to giggle.

Remember when poor Puck was playing peacemaker between these two and got hurt? Elvis laid down the Paw of Nope to Lupin as the instigator. I had hoped that the incident produced a permanent truce, if not peace.

“After you, my dear Alphonse.” “No, you first, my dear Gaston!” a phrase from a comic strip in the early 1900s. From Wiki: The strip faded from public view shortly after the author’s death in 1937, but the catchphrase “After you, my dear Alphonse” persisted. The phrase “Alphonse-and-Gaston routine”, or “Alphonse-Gaston Syndrome”, indicates a situation wherein one party refuses to act until another party acts first.

Sassy is more aggressive than passive. I always know when she is lurking in the hallway because whichever cats are in the bathroom with me hesitate to leave the room. Sure enough, I peek around the door and there she is waiting to pounce on whoever comes out first. I’ve actually had to pick Samantha up and carry her past the evil one.

    Meanwhile, Back on the Nile

    Lupinium: After you.

    Elvis-Anum: No, after you.

    Lupinium: I insist.

Violet-Ifa: Uh-oh. It looks like Lupnium and Elvis are in an etiquette loop again.

Ta-Natash: Yep, Miss Decorum’s latest scroll just came out today.

Vi: How long have they been like that?

Tash: They started right after breakfast.

Alice-Ata: They would have to do this right in front of the Royal Pantry.

Agnes-Ata: There’s only one thing to do. I’ll fetch Thomios.

    At the Royal Kitchen

Thomios: Sure, no problem. Just give me a few minutes.

    Agnes: Thanks, I appreciate it.

    Sometime Later

Elvis: No really, you must go ahead.

Thomios: Ham and cheese scones, anyone?

Tash: Elvis may have a few years behind him, but he still can move.

And somewhere, one of the humans sees this and is thinking: “Oh no, not again!” as he or she wonders whether it is worth the ankle damage to walk between the two.

O.T. Request from Georgia: "In 2017, The Providence Journal ran ‘Breaking Cat News’ against ’Garfield’, and ‘Garfield’ won (I mean… I love ‘Garfield’?? That was such a heartbreaking fight to be in!)However—The end of this article concluded the decision with “… We’re returning King Garfield to his throne, as of today. As for “Breaking Cat News” — whose supporters do love it — I’ll keep it in mind for a time when we have a vacancy on the comics page.—Alan Rosenberg, managing editor.”Dear Providence Journal, I would still love to join your comics page! If you’ve got a spot opening up from Dilbert, I’m still here six years later! Rhode Island readers, please contact the Providence Journal and let them know there’s a cartoonist from RI who would love to be in their funny pages! Two of the current newspaper comics are set in Southern, RI! Wallace the Brave is set in Snug Harbor, RI and Breaking Cat News is set in Hope Valley, RI! How wild is it that readers in other states get both, and readers in Providence only have one? I would love so much for both comics to be in the Providence Journal! Thank goodness for the The Westerly Sun carrying both!! I’d love for even more Rhode Islanders to have access to both of the comics being written by folks from RI, though!"

Re: The comic anti bigotry controversy: I read this morning that Washington Post had dropped Dilbert and when asked how many papers would continue to carry the strip, the spokesperson said “Zero” Yay for Georgia and all who called this bigot on his c**p.

The way to end this impasse is for one of them to start taking a bath while acting oblivious to the other, then settle in for a long nap. If patient, the other could do the same until time for dinner. They’d stay this way until the aroma of delicious food coaxed them out of their stubbornness, hopefully!

Hi everyone- if your local newspaper doesn’t carry BCN, you can help Georgia by writing to the editor to ask that BCN be considered to fill a ‘recently created gap’ in their comic page. Fans in the WA area can ask the Seattle Times to carry BCN on Sunday. Let’s get this beautiful strip in more papers!

The tornado sirens are going off. There’s a confirmed hook and debris field on the radar to the west of me. I grabbed my computer and headed for the basement. It came up so fast I didn’t have time to grab my photo albums. We’re also under a severe storm warning for a separate storm also headed this way. Prayers and positive thoughts, please.
