I got blood drawn this morning. Did she take my advice on which vein to poke. No she did not and had to poke around. I have it done in my hand because apparently I have no veins in my arms. FInally I pointed to the other hand and said " use this one here" she gave me a " I’m the phlebotomist" look, but she did what I said. Eureka! Sheesh.
Thanks to everyone for the well wishes yesterday. I guess I was more “out of it” than I thought when I didn’t post my usual comments on Tuesday. I had gone to work that day even though I was feeling a little under the weather. I took my temperature before I went to work and it was normal, so I thought I was just suffering from allergies. But as the day progressed, I started feeling worse and worse, so I clocked out 2 hours early. I took my temperature again as soon as I got home and it was 99.9. I wasn’t ready to go to bed, so I sat in my reclining chair with a couple of my cats and I tried to watch TV. But I kept falling asleep, That’s what a lap full of warm cats will do for you. I think I slept there off and on until about 3:00 in the morning. So I barely glanced at my comics and emails before going to bed. By Wednesday morning, my temperature was 101. I hate staying in bed when I’m sick. It only seems to make me feel sicker, so I spent the day falling asleep in my chair with the usual cats on my lap. Oreo, Uno and Cassie. There was seldom a minute where there was not at least one cat on my lap. Thursday, my temperature was back to normal for most of the day. It spiked up to 100.1 in the evening, but has been sitting at 99 since then. I have been vaccinated for COVID and this feels like a minor case. I feel more like I just have a cold, with the nasal congestion and all. I hope after a good night’s sleep, I’ll feel better in the morning. But regardless of how I feel, it will be at least Tuesday before I go back to work.
Lily would like her own coronation, I’m sure. I’ll likely be silent until Tuesday, heading down to the Chuckwalla Mountains in the low desert to meet up with several of Craig’s old friends. Expecting to see lots of wildflowers and hoping for good sightings of several types of reptiles, including desert iguanas and tortoise We hang a water drip that attracts many species of birds, many just passing through on an early migration.

Long story but I MIGHT get a mama and her 3 day old babies – 7 of them. I’ll know within the hour. I don’t really want to do it but Susan has nobody else. The other two people who do it can’t this time. Billie works full time but her husband Scott is a stay at home person and he takes care of the fosters. He’s having back surgery soon so wouldn’t be able to do it.Colleen apparently has too much on her plate. If the mama is feral, they will go to Dr Susan and be held in her bigferal cage. If she’s tame, they will come here.
Last night I signed up for the spring craft fair on April 22, two days before we leave for SD. That means I have a LOT of sewing to get done. I want to have some baby and child ones done this time. I can finish the sunflower today and start the really cute kitty one. Next is a cute sheep quilt I have to pick up at Fab Fabrics.
I called Walmart today to find out what the COVID policy is. I have to be 3 days symptom free before I can go back. That works for me. It’s like an extra 3 vacation days if I get to stay home while feeling fine. Walmart used to give us COVID pay but too many people were abusing it, so they don’t do it anymore. But I am allowed to use those old accumulated sick hours. Before Wednesday, I had 138 hours. Subtract Wednesday and Friday and I still have 122 hours These are hours I had no hope before of ever using. Even after they take off hours for Saturday and Sunday, I’ll still have over 100 hours left. I don’t like being sick, but I’m glad I finally get a chance to use up some of those hours.
I’m nearly symptom free today. So far, no fever all day. I’ve been coughing a little, but I don’t feel too bad. At least my appetite has finally returned. I napped some this afternoon. Not on purpose, but once I get that lap full of warm cats, it’s hard to stay awake. I expect to go back to work either Tuesday or Wednesday. I’ll just wait and see how much I feel like going to work on Tuesday.
I’m sure Lily would like tickets to the coronation. She’d probably also like to go there in a gold plated carriage. Nothing’s too fancy for her Royal Highness, after all! On another note, saw five robins and three juncos while out walking today.
