I haven’t hit any icebergs…..yet.

Love that ’58 DeSoto.

Turn it into a tourist attraction. Like the pyramids.

They certainly don’t make ’em like they used to.

Which sank 111 years ago today.

The Titanic didn’t even complete its first trip. This DeSoto has been plugging along for 64 years. “Tell ’em Groucho sent you.”

The Titanic struck the iceberg on April 14, sunk on April 15.

Old cars are the best cars. Especially if you know how to turn a wrench.

Today, 1912.

I have to admit it stung a bit when I saw one of the same models as the first new car I bought as a young man with a “historical vehicle” license plate. True story

But there aren’t any icebergs in the local pond.

The DeSoto is a classic like my ‘97 Dodge Dakota. Only Cosmo’s car is much more classic than mine.

Unabashed tail fins, cat’s eyes, v-8 engines, so much given up for mpg in passenger cars. Little GTO . . .

Convert it to electric.

And the Edsel.

My family had a ‘61 DeSoto. My brother got it from my Dad. He lost it in a divorce. I’ve never forgiven him.

I’m not that much of a “car person” but I do go to some classic car shows. I would think that Cosmo’s DeSoto or any classic car of that vintage with such amazing features (e.g., the fins) would be worth a goodly amount to a classic car collector. One caveat: Don’t wait too long to sell it. The folks who like cars of this vintage are getting older (Baby Boomers, like me), and the younger collectors out there don’t seem to have near as much interest in cars of this age. The Boomers like them because that’s what their parents and grandparents had when they (the Boomers) were kids (I’ve heard “Driving it makes me feel like my old man is still here”). Heck, I’d love to have the 1960 Mercury that my grandfather had when I was a child.

That car IS titanic.
