I don’t have any of those at my age but of them the one I’d like most to have back is balance. I hate how often I nearly fall. I have to use a cane now.
All of the above! I’m at an age where it’s starting to be obvious that what I do now determines how much I can do the rest of my life. So three days running (aerobic), two lifting (strength), flexibility every morning and balance every night. Balance in particular takes about six months to kick in but I really notice an improvement when trail running now, I trip much less often and catch myself more easily when I do! I just wish I had started taking my health seriously sooner.
30- plus years ago as a college student it was going to Gold’s Gym and working out 5 days a week minimum and also running at least a mile a day so I would go with strength for me back in the 80s and early ’90s and a side of aerobic activity as everyone was keen on balancing lifting with time on the bikes and treadmills.
Now in 2023, as I realized that muscle pulls and blown out knees can impact one in their late ’50s I go with flexibility; including swimming, stretching and simple bike riding in a couple of my favorite parks here in Hillsborough County FL. My wife and sister (both also in their ’50s) enjoy Tai-Chi, I understand it embraces both flexibility and balance as one does there exercises. My daughter at 22 is nuts for yoga and Tai-Chi but also likes to bike and swim but not in the aerobic sense, more for the light exercise and a channel to reduce stress and anxiety..
I do strength and aerobic (weights and bicycling w/a bit of walking). I do stretch some (flexibility) though not enough. Balance is lessened – I assume because of tennitus. I am going to start doing balancing exercises, can’t hurt and might help.
Mostly I do aerobic, but either on a stationary bike so I can read at the same time or to get someplace I can soon enough and dry enough with everything I need by walking.

I exercise my arm about a hundred times a day, drinking and eating. Does that count?

Strength. I once pulled my serratus lateralis and couldn’t do ANYTHING for a week. It’s amazing how many movements involve that one. :D :D :D

Back when I had a doctor from India, I had to explain to him that my sit-ups, were not simply sitting up in a chair or bed.

I worked out like crazy when I was younger. When I needed it the least, of course.
Later years have been a fight with depression and mobility issues, but I still want to fight my way back to healthier living.
